What overdrive automatic will bolt up to an aluminum Buick 215 motor? will the Buick Olds Pontiac transmissions bolt up? I am getting tired of rowing my truck around town thought it might be nice to just click it into gear and step on it! Thanks Rich
@Deuce Man No GM OD trans will just ‘bolt up’. The ‘61 to ‘63 aluminum V8’s (and 198” Buick v6 in those same years) had a distinctive block/bell housing pattern. However, I think somebody makes an adapter for that for the later common Chevy and/or BOP. Ray
just need to figure out how to put a tailhousing/ujoint yoke on it... https://www.ebay.com/c/650664404
A friend had similar local but larger 4.4lt version (Leyland P76) of that Buick with a T700, he used an adapter kit. In saying that a 200R would be a better choice as it smaller and requires less HP. Just remember with an OD transmission to increase your rear axle ratio to 3.73:1 or similar.
I suggest giving D&D a call. They're all about 215 engines and their close cousin Rovers. http://aluminumv8.com/ Lynn
I looked up D&D saw std trans adapters, but no automatic adapters, I am presently running 4.11's with my S10 5 speed, a 200 R4 would be nice. Rich
I'd suggest at least giving them a call. I talked with them a few years ago about an adapter to an automatic for my T roadster. I don't recall what transmission they suggested but they had something at that time, but perhaps they dropped it. Lynn
I have been away hunting for a month kind of out of the loop car wise. Any more info or suggestions on an auto trans for my 215 buick would be helpful. Thanks Rich
Just a wild shot, is there a Rover OD auto trans that might work? It should bolt up without any adapter, if such a trans exists. Best if not computer controlled, anyone know of details? Sent from dumb operator on a smart phone
how about these folks? http://centervilleautorepair.com/transadaptors https://transmissionadapters.com/
My 215 has a TH350 behind it. I think the adapter is from Kennedy Engineered Products. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
A common conversion Downunder, I think Dellow engineering in Australia are still going , they’ll have an adaptor to put almost any Auto both GM or Ford + O/D behind it,,,or alternatively try Rod Hadfield “ Rod shop” in castle main Australia , both long time trustworthy rodders and with the conversion rates it’ll be better value than buying off the pommys Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
finally got around to calling D&D today. Do you know how many D&D companies there are on the internet? Endless D&D's anyway I googled D&D Buick and got the right one. Yes they do make an adapter to put a 700r4 from a early s10 or some camaros with a 2.8 60 degree v6's now to find the trans! Thanks Rich
