I am drifting off topic here but I read that during the development of the Edsel they looked at the competition’s front ends at a few hundred feet away and they all looked the same because they were all horizontal grills. So to be different Edsel used a vertical grill. I have read the grill was not well received. It was called a toilet seat, a horse collar and even a vagina. Lots of good reading on this if you google “Edsel grill vagina”. This has got to be my weirdest post on the hamb...... but you asked....great thread though!

Been enamored by the Chevrolet "Fuel Injection" and crossed flag emblems since I saw pictures of them in magazines in the mid 60's when just a kid.
Or was it the girl?



Ordered a full set for my 57 while still in high school, 1971/72.

 

not a great photo, but it is on my Harrison heater box on my Model A, about a 1937 Olds.

 

The F.I. script matched the font on '57 ''Chevrolet'' hood, trunk and on the 210, quarters. It looks so right. Badges of honor for the pinnacle of tri 5 powerplants.
Also the first use of flag emblems on Chev passenger cars.

 

I’ll post this one because chances that I will find one let alone afford are pretty low.
