You ever have one of those moments in front of your kids where you say something like, "I'm buying it for my kids, because all steel might not be around when he gets ready to build one." Well dad made that mistake and I never let him live it down. That was 35 years ago! But since then it's been assembled tore down stored reassembled, put back into storage. Blah, blah blah. A Derecho hits my area and the shed which it's stored must come down. Guess the car gods must think that NOW is the time to begin. rear shot of my 37 taken aprox. late 60's early 70's at Neita Raceway (now Cedar Falls Raceway). These are the only two old photos that I have, If anyone by chance has some, please let me know, I would love to see them. by out plowing posted May 5, 2010 at 8:02 PM my 1937 Chevy Pickup taken 2001 when i started putting it back together to see what i was missing. by out plowing posted May 5, 2010 at 8:02 PM front view of my 37 taken approx. late 60's early 70's at NEITA Raceway (now Cedar Falls Raceway). A thunderstorm on steroids. 120+ mph straight line winds. Best characterized as a hurricane deep inland. This one stretched from Omaha to Chicago.
Update: September 26, 2020 90% of the is finally at my place. I am hoping to be able to start squaring up the frame by November 1st. It sort of feels like hunting for Christmas presents that you've stashed around the house as to all the places I had parts tucked away. January of 2018 in a Facebook group post about a local drag strip turned up another image of my truck. It come from the Tommy Shaw collection, and with some digging I found the owner Davern Lambirth of Knoxville Iowa.
April 2023 update, got the front cross member welded in and have begun to mock up the rear axle brackets. I'm hoping to be on all four tires by July 2023.
Saw this at the Street Rod Nationals last year parked out by the horse barns. Talked to the owner. It was one of my favorites because of its understated appearance. Very driveable looking and I think the 37 can be one of the best looking trucks when built.
