Since I am curious and recall seeing an article on Opel front ends in Street Rodder Collector's Issue #4 from Winter 1981, looked it up. It looks very much like Opel but the one in the article has a transverse leaf spring. Maybe different year/model Opel.

Is it just my eyes ,or are the lower control arms mounted upside down ?

  5. Opel GT (little Corvette) 69-73 had transverse leaf front end with torque tube rear end

  6. Opel Kadett front sheet metal would look good on there.

  7. Is there a part number on those cast spindles?

it looks like the brake calipers mount on the front side of the spindles?Looks like the springs have been cut, seems to sit lower?.It almost looks like it was a right hand drive setup and they turned it around and made it left hand drive:confused:.I have no idea what it is though. Harvey

  9. It's academic. It has to go, along with the LS engine.

Kind of reminds me of the front suspension from an MGB but different. Maybe from a different English car?

I expect it might be from a foreign car. But don't know.

The upper arms look quite Mopar....but they don't use lower arms like that. The crossmember has a 1940s-50s look to it. R&P and disc brakes were more common on European cars in the 60s.

  12. Here's what is said to be Opel GT front suspension. It has a transverse leaf spring, not coil springs.

  13. Here's what I believe to be early-70s MG.

  14. There must be part numbers and other identifiers on there somewhere.

  15. Not Kadett. Those are the two Opel models I'm aware of.

For such a traditional hot rod site, I am amazed at all the responses to this ifs.

    IFS is shorthand foul language...

  25. The Volvo sway bar link lower mount looks like OP item. But the link is vertical not skewed outward.
I'd say this is close to the end of the search.
On the other hand the brake calipers are on the rear rather than front.
    Keep looking.

I'm old enough that I need a big screen...I bought two 24" monitors for my computer last week.

  28. I'd say the installer swapped the spindles side-for-side for whatever clearance reasons and to put the steering on the back side. Probably with a rack. Probably screwed the ackerman.

Hmmm...'33 or '34 panel, all steel. I'd gamble and say it's worth a Dago axle/transverse spring.
"But there'll be cutting and welding involved!"
    Like I said...it's a gamble. :p:cool:
