  4. I can see the benefits of the one with points when sorting through wheels but I don’t find myself in that situation, don’t remember ever having too.

  5. The first one I ever saw was at The National Street Rod show in Columbus back in the 80's and it was made from something like slick flexible poster board, later on I got a thing plastic one and I have two pf the heaver plastic ones like I show in the original post.

I have seen them made out of a 1/4" piece of aluminum. HRP

I keep one in my swap meet bag when I head to a swap meet. Even if I don't plan to check wheels, or bolt patterns, it seems I end up needing it.

  7. You or someone else if they know you have one, my pal Mike bought a box of odds & ends parts for 20 bucks as the Charlotte,North Carolina swap meet was wrapping up.

He took it back to our space and started digging through it we were loading all our treasures in the back of my truck and among all the parts there was 10 brand new orange plastic bolt circle templates, Mike surmised the guy he bought the parts from didn't realize they were in the bottom of the box and ask me to keep loading he was going to ask the man did he know they were in the box.

He went looking for the guy but he had already left, I joked with him about using that for a ploy to leave me to do all the loading up.

Mike ended up taking them to the North Georgia swap meet and selling 8 of them last year he kept one and gave me one. HRP

About thirty years ago I went to a local shop to buy mags for a car and the guy at the shop had a ratty cardboard wheel size template that was falling apart. At the time I worked in a mold shop and I had him scan it for me and I took the picture back to the shop and made my own mold for it. I ran production on it and made enough of them selling them at swap meets over three decades to finance most of the costs of my project car. img024.jpg

My old man had them traced on shoebox carton in every car he owned.

People just need to label the bolt pattern on rims when selling them. It would make life a whole lot easier. They would sell faster too.

In a perfect world that might work but in the world of guys asking what you have and telling you that's what they fit, it's buyer beware for me.
