    That's a vintage bug deflector/shield.
They also came with speedometers or thermometers on the back. Capture.PNG
Not sure about the wire, maybe just a shadow.
PS. This photo was taken on 31st Dec 1964 LOL

I think most of us "old guys" probably worked at a gas station at some point in our younger days, and these pics bring back memories for sure. One thing I remember is that a LOT of oil was sold "back in the day", and bringing out the oil display on Saturday morning and returning it to the garage at closing was just one of the attendant duties. A lot of the old ladies thought you were short wiping the dip stick to sell them oil. We never did that but I guess it happened or they read it in Dear Abby or something. When oil was needed, most requested Quaker State oil. In high school I worked at a Chevy dealer afternoons and Saturdays in the Parts Dept. One of the mechanics was pulling a fairly low mileage SBC and called me over to see under the valve covers. The rockers were completely covered with gunk, unbelievable. He showed me the Quaker State oil case in the trunk and said, "Don't ever use Quaker State", or you get this. I never did....Great Thread!

That is an old Aussie photo. The A Bucket in front was built by Larry O'Toole who publishes the magazines here called Australian Street Rodding and International Hot Rodding. Larry is currently doing a new version of the bucket and has been doing build articles in the last several issues.

There were several of these Humble stations in NE Ohio during the 60's and 70's.

And the Atlas products are an indication that it is a subsidiary of Standard Oil.
