Put 2 U joints in it to get around the starter.

Yours looks like a pinched frame?...on an unpinched 32 frame, a F100 box will clear on an early Olds with same starter issue, where a F1 box will not clear.

also, I think a mini starter is available for Buicks? if you paint it black no one will notice or...care, except maybe you. :)

Hamtown Al has a Buick going into a 32 with pics, stock steering box though,

One question, is your motor too high? Hard to tell by that pic, and I don't know if it would help if it was lower.

  8. I don't know what era you are going for but Gary Heliker had U-joint steering in the early 60's
The car was in Hot Rod and Rod and Custom in 1962

  10. My roadster built in '58 has '37 cross steering and one U-joint.

I have barely pinched 32 frame. Set up by Cornhusker (Krylon32).
Some pics on my build thread.

Don’t know how many more Cornhusker will build, but I think he’s still at it, experienced, & would likely answer your questions.
    Buick 401.
    ST400 original tranny.
    Vega Box.
Original Firewall. Not set back or cut, very slight indent to get the original distributor to clear.
    4” drop axle.
I think 2 joints in steering shaft.
Cut off 41 ford shaft with keyed original from firewall up to wheel.
    Centerville Buick(Russell&Matt Martin sell)
& it’s tight, but Geardrive Lake headers free up a lot of room.
