Anglias have a Bakelite dash, Pops have steel dash. Anglia chrome bumpers, Pops painted bumpers. Bonnet sides (hood) stainless around the openings on an Anglia, Pops are no stainless except for the grille surround.

Basically the Pop is the “stripper” version of the Anglia, not that Anglia’s were loaded with content themselves.

So same MFG. different models? My first car was a "Prefect" 48 or 49 that was a 4dr.

No bumper and we can't see the dash, but...the hood and gill trim is...in place !
In any case, by the time most of these little cars hit the US drag strips (and maybe even the Euro drag strips), they were ALL just...Anglias. A mix of all parts or none.

Good point Mike. Our '48 has vent doors on the cowl; our '49 has scoops...

I wonder if that is the "silver dollar" Willys PU behind the Anglia? Looks like it could be the Pacific NW.

According to @1933_willys_77 Bob Panellas Anglia "El Pedrone" is in the shop and being restored.

Sweet pic! Talk about an "understated" car! I remember pulling alongside of Bob and seeing the tach as he revved it to between 6 & 7 grand and punched it (!) trying to clear the fuel from the Hilborn set-up! And yes, that was when he ran the small block HIPO. Then he later got serious and went with the side-oiler.
I remember he took me for a ride one night with the SB. When he punched it going off the line, my head hit the headrest so hard, my ball-cap flew into the rear seat area!
Wonder if he still has the Blind Driver trophy that he and I won at one of the Rod Runs??? Great memories!

Still looking for this one. I'm the last man standing so I would really love to find out of it's where about if it is still about. Cali Bros. then Cali and McCarthy. Can't make out the name after it sold in last pic.

Speed I knew Jim, he spells his name Rhea. He never had anything to do with this Anglia. The picture in question Perrilla and Reha was taken in Middle Village NY I think on Elliot ave. circa 70's.

Hi, posted info when this first came out. My name is Pete Reha, co-owner. Pic was on Staten Island. Sold 72 or 73 from my partners home on East Brunswick N.J. He doesn't know who bought it. I also look for it just to see it again.

Thanks chevy pete, it's funny how these cars seem to disappear. Could be in a garage somewhere under a pile of lawn furniture and baby clothes.

I love this thread. You guys wouldn't believe how much work has been done to this piece. All steel 4" stretch that looks like the factory did it. 2.5" chop, on and on and on. Too much to list. 468 with a 700R4 that goes right down the highway too (quickly). It's a real quality driver. He's built many hi quality Anglia rides. He built my chassis 20 years ago and I'm still driving it. Check him out! http://www.mcfabricators.com/

    From above -
While I don't care for the look, I can't imagine the work it took to widen those front fenders.
I widened a set of rears, many years back, not as wide as the ones on this car, but wider than stock, and that was a task. Whether fiberglass or steel, there's a LOT of work there.
And...they kept the stock overall contours correct.
