    Hello,

One thing my brother and I were impressed with were the outfits of the top racers in 1959. Our colors were white t-shirt and Levis, with desert boots to give us the normal, everyday, high school outfits some validity. Add in a lightweight blue nylon jacket and we were ready for the cool evening action at Lion’s Dragstrip. It was a common So Cal teenage outfit and looked right at place at any dragstrip.

When the top racers had great outfits, we tried to add to our versatility with the additions of our donated Wynns Friction Proofing jackets. They were slightly warmer than a plain nylon windbreaker jacket. Needless to say, they drew attention and stares to our pits work and the Willys 671 Coupe.

“We had hopes to get some kind of sponsorship from Wynn’s by getting noticed with our Willys C/Gas Coupe and wearing those cool jackets around Lions Dragstrip. We did get asked by the STP guy if we were sponsored by Wynn’s. Ha!”

I’m sorry but that the most “butt ugly” roadster I’ve ever seen on the HAMB..

I recognized this Roadster right away, it’s the Woodard, Moeller, East, Sievers brothers, Munz car, that appeared on the first large cover Rod & Custom magazine. I saw it at the Sievers farm in 1976 and Bernie (could have been another brother) was surprised I knew the car.
It wasn’t in this condition when I saw it, the give away was the frenched hinges.

  26. Is that Don Prudhomme talking to Norm Grabowski ?

    Deuces and chryslerfan55 like this.
  27. I imagine that pic is from when Bill Moeller owned it, given the car show posters on the doors.
On a side note, do you know if Bernie Sievers is still around, I haven't heard from him in some time.
