Need help on my 1940 Ford pickup project, what u-joint might be available for: -Ford 8" rear, 1310 series yoke, 1.125" dia. caps, 3.219" between inside of locating tabs. -Drive shaft, GM "G" body series. 1.125" dia. caps, I measure 2.560" width on inside of drive shaft yoke. This drive shaft had the plastic injected locking rings so I need internal snap rings. I cannot come up with a u-joint for this combination. I've searched here and Google and I am starting to think I may have to get a Ford drive shaft and take it to my local auto machine shop. Thanks

A good NAPA store can fix you up. Special numbers from the back of the book. An older clerk would know. I have used the Speedway joints, like NAPA's better.
I have looked at what Speedway offers. I need the u-joint to have all caps 1.125” dia. Their u-joint has (2) 1.125” dia. and (2) 1.062” dia. caps. What if I would buy 2 u-joints and swap out the 1.062” caps with 1.125” caps. I would end up with (4) 1.125” dia. caps. Any thoughts on this? I have looked at Denny's website. I need a u-joint with all (4) caps 1.125” dia. Denny's u-joint has (2) 1.125” dia. and (2) 1.062” dia. caps. The 1.062" dia. cap will not work for my application. Also, Denny's website says "Sorry, sold out".
Bummer on sold out ah driveshaft specialists maybe, if you have a fleetpride near you they can usually hook you up
The counter guy at the local auto value parts store is one of those geniuses that can pop off what joint you need, and Steve that runs the driveline shop. Guess that doesn't help if all you have is advance auto parts in your area lol.
If you can wait till a.m. , my frt joint is gm yoke to ford driveshaft. I'll check the sizes & provide the part #...
Try a NAPA or Precision 434. See this link for dimensions. From a former NAPA store owner who heard this question a bunch of times. Enough so I remembered the number and checked the link to see if I was right. I know those cross width dimensions don't match exactly but look at where they are measuring and see if that's a match. If not there a a bunch of other choices as you can see.
I did a gm driveshaft to 9 inch ford rear end in my truck. Used a neapco 3-3130. Been driving it for 6 years now with no problem. Not sure of the dimensions but it worked for me in my 57 f100.
There is a u joint made for that. When I worked at a driveline shop, we called them jump joints. The info you need is in the back of a Spicer u joint catalog. Maybe there is a copy on the Internet. Sorry I gave you a bum steer last night on the 434, after I reread your post I see that you need same diam caps and wasn't sure where you were measuring cross. (Hey it was 3 AM and I was getting ready to hit the rack) I just remember selling a ton of 434's for this kind of swap. Also forgot to post the link: www.moog-suspension-parts.com/universal-joints-ujoints.asp. Maybe you already looked at this. I just went through the whole chart and the only joint with your cross dimensions is a 372. I have successfully mixed caps, just measure the trunnion and if it's the same diameter/length on both joints they will interchange. You may be able to use the 372 with caps from the 375. However the caps on the 372 are .125 and .62 smaller than the 375 so may not fit. I have noticed that trunnions are often the same size for joints whose cap sizes are close. Otherwise it looks like changing the yoke is the answer. The 1.125 caps is what makes it hard. I see very few with that size cap in the chart and if Moog doesn't make this combo it probably doesn't exist.

Denny's driveshaft chart, Pretty much the same but maybe easier to follow. I don't know why the hell anyone would go to Speedway to buy U joints when you can get them locally and get good quality ones at Napa or anyplace that sells Spicer or Neapco if you are willing to pay for them. The difference in quality and price of U same size U joints is primarily the number of needles, diameter of needles and the length of the needles. Cheap joints have short fat needle bearings in them while better quality joints will have longer much thinner needle bearings in them. Still a Combination joint is going to be at least twice as expensive as a good same size on both sides joint plus some of them are pretty well special order only in most parts houses and if you puke one away from home you may not find a replacement easily. I ran a combination joint on my 48 for years and even locally had to hunt for one the right size when I lost one going down the freeway. My buddy's wife spotted me sitting in a park and ride lot from the freeway and they came back and checked on me and he went home and got his wrecker but I was pretty well stuck otherwise that time.
I did call the Moog help desk. The person I talked to was very helpful, very accommodating to my question and after searching on his end indicated they did not offer the combination I need. The solution will probably be to use a Ford drive shaft and have the local auto machine shop rework it. Thanks to everyone for trying to help.
