Holly 94 on a Burns intake and the gravity works real good. It works better than the fuel pump. I found larger fittings for the tank valve outlet and carb inlet. Banjo fitting on the carb Then a larger fuel line. You know, one less thing to break and put you down and out on a road trip.

  6. OK, I have been in contact with Phil in the past, this man is a PRO at Solidworks.
Phil was kind enough to share some of his models he made and they all line up with the little work I have done in the past.
I can only say Thank you for taking the time to work up these models, they show much detail for us to understand better the Model A motor.

    Best regards, John

    Thanks John,
I hope your project is moving along.
For anybody who might be interested, the CAD model of the block can be found here to download.

Slowly , too slow for my liking, the parts accumulation and assembly of a 32 diamond B . Using the original Cragar cover , but a new head. Plus other old parts to aid the look which matches the look of the 32. Scat crank and Rods , 348BBC .020 pistons ( not the W head , but big truck and bus) not using top ring as piston rises up to this groove. My guy wants to get better compression so has also milled the head. Twin 81 carbs on zephyr manifold with grace and co air cleaners modified to take K&N filters ( we live on an unsealed Dusty road) Lightened fly wheel and V8 clutch. Custom ground cam done here in NZ. The rear seal was my engine guys idea and it turned into a bit of a headache but he got it done . MB type willys jeep rear seals and custom made housing . Full oiling system with externally regulated pressure on a Chrysler 440 filter housing . .We have an FS distributor in the 32 at present but are going back to a B distributor and points. My engine guy is extremely thorough in what he does and examines every detail . 9. If you were to consider making one in 1/8 scale, I'd bet they would sell like HOTCAKES!!! ( and maybe a Miller/Cragar or Riley head version :D)

After the swap of the head the car is running very smooth at idle and pulls good.head gasket weeped until I retourqued the head 4 times then stopped.ive got the total timing at 20* with the lever,I can turn the rotor to get more of course.what is the max timing you guys are running in these beasts?a ford book states stock range is 0-30*.standard pistons, header, downdraft intake with a 94,5.5 Snyder head 20200912_104529.jpg 20200912_104538.jpg

  11. I ordered some parts from the Northeast of the US last Friday p.m. (Sept. 11th). The seller gave it "Priority Mail" to the local Office; who sent it out within an hour to the "Distribution Center" some miles away. It left the "Distribution Center" this morning, THREE DAYS LATER! Good thing I'm not in a hurry! But it's sometimes a waste of money to pay extra for three day delivery.

I'll have to try one in 1/8 scale. I've done a cylinder block in 1/12 as a test and it looked small to me. I do intend to do hot rod components. I just need access to parts or really good pictures, with measurements, in order to draw them accurately.

Looks real good. What 'new' head is that?
I'm running 7.2:1 on the one Cragar head and about 7:1 on the Schofield/Miller head. The S/M head is what I just put back together and I need to let it cool and re-torque the head.
I too am running Zepher manifolds and twin 81's. I am fighting fuel condensing back in the manifold on the Cragar head, especially on cold mornings. Not the case on the S/M head. I don't know what the difference is other than the Cragar head has intake and exhaust valves that are the same size and a different cam grind.
I'll be interested in how yours works for you with your set up.

I think it has to do with how hard you want to be on the center main...
I have heard that much past 23 degrees total advance starts affecting the center main...however if you want to win some races..... advance in relation to RPM

I can possibly help, maybe not, but we are both in SoCal area tho 150 mi apart.
We can talk , if you like. I have ‘holy grail’ type George Riley OHV 4-port head/2x2 intake and race carbs. Your work is cool and worthy of help.

The deal was two heads. An original Cragar and new miller Serr head, sold the Cragar and it made the new head half price.
My engine guy is adamant there would not be enough oil from the one centre hole in the scat crank on front and centre mains so has milled the trough in the block below the bearings and plans to mill a few thou of the centre side of each bearing. Are we over thinking things. The willys jeep Rear seal Housing we made is a close fit with the bolts holding it on ,we may remove spring washers and use star washers .Its locked in with roll pins also.
This was the only crack in the block, maybe something was dropped on it? 19. Kiwi,
It sounds like your engine Guru is pretty good, I like the rear seal housing.
And he is right, the oil passage under the bearing shell needs the trough.
Relieving the bearings to make the oil groove is very important, to feed the rods. Some I have seen used a single shell, not completely using all the length of the bearing but aligning the groove to the crank oil feed hole.
Looks good, keep up on the pics, J

    @Kiwi 4d
I'm not aware of any failures, in my experience, from over lubrication...
My guess is the break in the block was from number four rod trying to leave the scene.
Let us know how it runs.

That makes more sense trying to put a leg out of bed as the rest of the block was nice. We only got a bare block so no knowledge of carnage.

7BEC119B-C892-4F85-9F4A-2BEF3A9E8D5D.jpeg Color change on the ol' roadster. I like it, but now I really need to do the bodywork! Going to mess with rhe Tattersfield I got this spring. No throttle pivot boss or vac.port, possibly pre-war in my searchings...Looks like it could be set up to work real well progressive.
Rear wheel is a real dark red. I think I like the combo...I'll get more better pics tomorrow

Two months ago I passed on this 41 connie trans...didn't have a 39 box to stuff the gears in,now I do. Turned a friend on to the lincoln axles the cat also had,he scored a nice set of lincoln brakes and spindles..and bid 150 on the trans for me..the cat said no,so I called him and upped the ante..pick up the trans Saturday...dont know what I'm gonna do with the R10...
