I built my bomber seats a while ago and have just recently finished them, made from cold rolled steel and I used Kirky seat covers as a dimension guide. It took a while to decide if I would add some holes - I did and then painted them, I plan to make cushions for base and alternate with seat covers check the pics out. Glen
Hello, Very nice build and finish. It is impressive. For all of your hard work, I hope you are able to withstand the rigid surfaces and no adjustable backing for anything other than a 12 second 1/4 mile ride. As nice as it looks, metal just does not give and for road trips, you may be hunched over after your long cruise. But, if you are only in the seat(s) for 12 seconds in the quarter mile, then you can stand it. Or most can... Jnaki When we got some foreign car bucket seats for our 1940 Willys Coupe, it was a necessity as far as space and room for two big teenagers. There isn't much room to stretch out. Those smaller bucket seats fit nicely, too. When we put in our Moon Aluminum Tank and Pump, the space got smaller fast. So, it was nice to be able to move the seat back as far as possible. On our three, local hot spot cruises on the street, those seats were comfortable enough for us. The passenger just had to make room, over and on the side of the Moon Tank. It was not the best place for comfort, cruising around. But, our Willys Coupe with the 671 SBC motor was not going to be our daily driver, so 12 seconds was just fine. Cruising around the local drive-ins and hot spots gave us enough accolades to last a lifetime. Those Naugahyde bucket seats were nice for those short 12 mile round trip rides between gas stops. Ha!!!
Those look great. I have a similar aftermarket pair in my roadster. The suspension is pretty stiff so i made some seat pads out of golf cart cushions and covered the pads with o. D. Green duffel bag material.
