Not much to update lately, but I do plan on painting the grill shell before Autorama, so I took it apart, and am going to be dropping it off to my painter fairly soon. Probably going to have it gloss black, but am also debating gloss red, like the rest of the car. 20180116_185817.jpg

On the note of the grille and radiator assembly, how to people mount them straight up vertical? Mine sits at a slight slant back, and I was wondering how difficult it would be to either make, or pick up shims that could slide under the radiator that would correct this problem. Anyone have any thoughts? Somehow I feel like this would be a @mike bowling question haha

    all Mike's think alike, lol.
If they're steel, easy fix with threaded rod. If they're stainless , not so easy

Not too bad, cut off the firewall end of the support rods so when you weld on a 5/16" stainless carriage bolt it will extend the rod's length to what you need...
remember to get your flat washers and jam nuts on first...
    ... mike150 what do you think ?

    Cool build.
Something that caught my eye though, is your dash board gauge bezel on upside down?
Could be just me and feel free to tell me to mind my own business, could be my jealousy for a coupe!

To be perfectly honest, I'm not really sure what specific bezel it is, so I don't really know if it's on upside down.. I found that bezel at a swap meet, and after contemplating what direction to put it, we decided with what you see there. If someone knows who makes this unit, I'd love to know what it is.

Got the grille shell off to paint yesterday. For the sake of time, I decided on gloss black, simply because it's easy, fast, and much better than a flat black grille shell on a gloss red car. I didnt want to take the time to try and match the red since I have a lot of other things to do in order to make Autorama.

Couple updates. Getting closer to Autorama. Getting closer to being done on the car. Its mainly the little things now that need to get done before the show. I corrected the radiator angle, and fabricated some new radiator supports. For 100% freehand, I think they turned out pretty good. 20180211_144316.jpg 20180211_144349.jpg

pictures in the shop are pre grinding, pictures on the car are final product. I may get them chromed eventually, but not before Autorama

Also managed to get the suspension changed around so that both batwings are facing the same direction. Now the steering won't rub anymore. It was also a complete PITA to get it done. 20180212_212458.jpg 20180212_213812.jpg 20180212_213817.jpg 20180212_213936.jpg 20180212_220853.jpg 20180212_231026.jpg

Here's the progress on the grille shell. The front of it was so badly chipped, and really badly rattle canned, that we decided that it would be worth it to completely re do it. Sanded it down, re sprayed it, and my friend who is a pin striper did a small design on it.

Final prep continues! Move in for Autorama is 3 days away and we are just buttoning up the last bits of the car. One thing we did was get the steering painted and mounted up. 20180225_161956.jpg 20180225_163225.jpg

Also mounted the license plate. Something I probably should have done a long time ago, since before now I had it taped to the back window. 20180225_164231.jpg 20180225_164822.jpg 20180225_170807.jpg 20180225_170830.jpg
