Guess you're right, my apoligies. Funny that it initially says it has to be a coupe or sedan then mentions convertibles.
Bring it to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing's show Saturday if you can, and ask around. Possibly someone local will recognize it. Cool car.
Wait, you guys have car shows actually happening? I’m jealous! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Chuck....Didn't her husband get to the semi finals in S/C at this years NHRA sports nationals at the young age of 81 ?
I believe that I read about that. At the tender age of 81 myself, I can attest to the extreme levels of effort and concentration that would be required to compete on that stage. My hat is off to Mr. Jackson!
Believe it or not, I saw a pristine black on red '62, 409 Impala cruising my neighborhood over the weekend. "She's soooo fine, that 409!!"
Not to sound sexist but can that be PP on the windshield indicating powder puff, it looks like a new picture so maybe it has slicks and is driven by a woman. Pat
When compiling the NHRA results, I was surprised to see several of these 260/164hp-2v Fords winning national events. This engine was actually slightly underrated (rare for vanilla engines) so that gave it an edge. The 63 Sprint came in at a heavier Wt/Power=17.01 so it ran a class down in the J/S=17.00 class. This looks like a Falcon 2dr sedan, with W/P=15.79, coming in right near the top of the I/S=15.60 class. Picture could have been 1963, 64, 65, or 67. The 1964-1/2 Mustang 260/164-2v also won its share, but with W/P=16.57 it was a poor class fit until the N/S=W/P=16.00 class came out in 1968. The 289-2v that replaced the 260-2v was overrated so harder to win with that in class.
Oh a class win, J/S=17.00 1963 Indy Nationals, Les Ritchey. It just says 63 Ford but nothing else fits but a Sprint. 16.07 at 84.66 I could see Ford pushing the new Sprint as the super-hot Falcon that year, with the chrome and all. How many 2-barrel combos came with a chrome air cleaner? BTW I am still hunting for NHRA results sheets - 1962 Pomona Winternats and 1969 Indy Nationals in particular.
My 1961 Fairlane 390-401 built to pay tribute to cars that ran Optional Super Stock in 1961. Period correct in every aspect and legal to the 1961 NHRA rule book down to the 7" tires... No quarter mile times yet. My father's 1961 390-401 Starliner is also pictured.
Very very nice! Good job! It takes a lot of discipline to do what you did! Again great job! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Indy 1963 J/S class winner. The top of a Ford 2-bl carb is the same size as a Holley 4-bl hence the chrome high performance air cleaner.
I don't think that's a new picture..Notice the phone number without area code, and the Winston sign.. They don't advertise in motorsports anymore, right? Still could be Powder Puff though..Good call
I saw that but didn’t really know where else to put it. I didn’t think it really fit in the super stock thread but still thought it was neat. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
