It was sad news today The Swiss Tavern in downtown Tacoma is closing after 27 years. Many of you here will remember it front the first HOT ROD A RAMA that was put on .. Such great times , great food , and fun Bands... The Swiss stayed alive with business from the local office buildings and the nearby satellite U of W campus, with all that shut down... well, they didn't have a chance.
Great memories of past Hot Rod a Rama's. Hopefully something will become of the space... there was a sale in progress that fell thru...it was pending on buyer waiting on phase 4 reopen.. being the uncertainty of when that would happen..they decide to close up. It was a great 27 years...Thank you , Bob , Jack and Gayle (RIP)

Hopefully when someone else opens it back up it is with the same attitude and customer base. Over here in the Yakima area one of the long time what I would call very special occasion places where you take your significant other to give them bragging rights is closing after 54 years. Multiple reasons but it is a loss to the community.
ditto on that... had a great time with the shows we had down there.. still can remember the windows shaking with the diggers rapp'in the throttles. hoping a window wouldn't break in some old buildings. It was great times... U of W pretty much owns all the building around the downtown campus in Tacoma.. time will tell..see what may happen ..
I’m sure the developers mouths are watering. I hope they don’t mow it down. Was such a cool bar in a really cool vintage building. Mabee they’ll put some more of Chihuly the snake oil salesman’s installations in there.
The U of W owns the building from what I was told.. I heard a rumbling of a auction happening at some date. bummer.
I only got to attend one of those gatherings ( Hot Rod A Rama ) down in Tacoma, but it was a great turnout. What a bummer that the Swiss Tavern could not survive.
Been there, done that several times....Neat stuff. A lot of neat stuff has gone belly up in the last few months.
I checked out the stuff up for auction. Sure brings back memories. Most stuff is way to rich for my blood. Never mind the money exchange and crossing the boarder
