I am researching a block who’s heads say it is a 1952 ford. It is original and red in color. On the crown of the back lip is an “ 8 “ to the right of that ( facing the clutch ) is “ 36M:2 “ ... ideas? Thanks in advance.
well, its a 52 ford, matt has been playing with v8's, so i for one will assume its another v8. back to the original question, the numbers you see cast all over flathead blocks generally mean nothing. most of it is numbers for the foundry to keep track of batches made, and casting flaws etc. the post war 59 series, generally do have a 59 on the bell housing, but even that is not absolute, as occasionally one will show up with no markings.
Should have EAB heads, more compression than 8BA heads. That's good. Also, the cam is the best stock flathead cam.
