I have been wanting to see what my homebuilt jalopy would run and finally was able to make a couple of passes.
I’m a virgin racer and there was some learning involved for sure.
I wouldn’t call bracket racing my thing, but all in all I had fun, got into the 12s and drove it home. So a pretty successful day.

I had the trans out the night before due to a squeaky release bearing, seemed good for my short run at home, but grinded badly when I shifted hard at the track a couple of times. Worked around it and made the best out of it. I will have to fix that up here today.

I’ll see if this video works..

thanks! That’s all I wanted to do, was to be able to say it’s a 12 second car. Back in the day that was pretty wild.
It was good to see people built these back in the day to out do Detroit’s offerings, and yesterday I was running faster than a lot of the new “muscle” cars running in my class.

not that skinny of tires, I stuck the slicks on for the passes. Though I picked them up used as they were too worn out and slippery for the guys boosted LS truck. Worked ok for me, a little slippery but kept my launch RPM around 3000 to keep it in check.

Yeah buddy, that’s great! That was exactly how I felt back in the old days when my ‘33 5W ran low 12’s-high 11s with 3.23s and Firestone Indy tires! I built it, it could easily blow off most street GTOs, Chevelles, 442s and Vettes and no car payments. A whole lot of fun.
