C4CF0FE9-FFEC-4821-9BF6-F1E8E34A423D.jpeg Hope I can get some advise from you guys on using a wico magneto on my 32 B engine. From what I’ve read lots of problems. I have a great mag guy that I would send it to for check out and mods. But any input and suggestions would really be great. Before I tore everything apart I ran the stock engine for a couple of years and it was a great runner. But you know ya gotta push it. So what do you think guys am I inviting a train wreck?

Guitar guy, yes they are good guys, fast too, and I seen mike stand up on the ground in his car.

The king of the hill was a overhead, Hank was fast again, but Miles and the BurrKing Sp are getting close to the times.
I should have proof read my talk to text, sorry if I hurt any valve in heads feelings

No problem, both my OHV cars are down at the moment and my good old reliable flathead banger ran 60+ mph with a 45 mph headwind out old US66 the other day pulling grade at 6800' it came back at 80 mph with that 45 mph wind, now on my tail and the grade now down hill.
Thanks for the photos. Looks like you had fun. More photos anytime

IMHO. don't use it. No advantage over electronic ignition. In fact it has more negatives then positives. The main one being no automatic advance. Static timing only. There is a slight lag (timing retard ) at starting speeds. Above idle timing is fixed.

  12. Pumpman,
trainwreck, no, just some good old fun!!
I would suggest removing the impulse mechanism if the Mag has one, it will eventually wear out the dist drive mechanism. Also, when starting, keep mag grounded as you spin the motor, then once turning fire the mag.
Other than that, show us some pics of it running!!

@fur biscuit - I've used Pete1 for reground cams (banger and fh v8) I'm real happy with them.
Having said that, I used a new Bill Stipe cam in my pickup as the old cam was toast and it's a beauty and runs great.

Clutch and transmission installed, felt like a big step in this project.

  17. I'm surprised this has a 4-banger. What engine, and how well do you think it performs as a tow vehicle?

Ron Kelly is a Model A/B engine builder, it is his truck I did not look too close, I see it has a OHV head, I am sure it has as many mods, he drove to the Iowa hillclimb from Texas. The truck was built years ago.

Hi Guys, new here. I have read through lots of Banger threads while doing research for mt build.
I have shared this on other forums, but thought you might like it. This is a rendering of a CAD model I have been working on. It is dimensionally accurate. I am currently working on a 3D printed 1:6 scale version.

  22. Yeah Doug! I'm doing pretty darn well for an "Old Guy"! Only concern is about what's happening up at Laguna Seca; what with the Monterey County Politicians, with connections to "The Ruling Party", "Open for business"!

Oh, no feelings hurt here, I figured you were just busting chops.

Please post some vids. I believe more than a few of us would like to see them.

Wow, very impressed. done in Solidworks? absolutely wonderful detail. You should post the balance of the renderings from your flicker posting here, as I am sure other would be most interesting in seeing the other rendering you have created.

I had my sedan out yesterday playing with timing and got it pretty good, now I think it needs a fuel pump gravity doesn't seem to be able to keep up any more
