I know there's been a sh*t ton of threads and posts on the subject and I'm not looking for any, I just wanted to add these to the heap of info on here. I stumbled across these and thought someone could use them now or for the future. They don't look half bad....... https://www.shopatdean.com/products...MI_cac-5jb6wIVvyCtBh3mKg7qEAQYAyABEgLhU_D_BwE
Says it's a barstool/seat, don't think I'd want to spend more time in these than the time it takes to consume a couple drinks.
That is somewhat like the boat seats I tried for my car. After getting them mounted, I came to my senses and gave them away to someone with a boat.
I was thinking of them for the Hillman if I already didn't find some close replacements. I know they'll feel cheap, but they are cheap .
I spent a good portion of my 20's and 30's in those seats. And without booze they aren't going to be comfortable for more than a couple of hours. With booze, they're good for a decade.
I would worry the back is not secure enough against the base so if you get rear ended will allow you to fall back, and in the case of a roadster, against the tulip panel edge.
The look of these to me is not correct for a hot rod . Are the Curved backs simply a bit of Ply nailed to a wooden base? Cheap they may be but they are half bad.
Say that after you've ridden in them from Portland to Bakersfield, did that for fifteen years and not in $50.00 seats either.
Half bad and the other half is not good. The don't look that good and I don't think they'd stand up in a crash at all. Cheap all around, but good to think outside the box.
I don't know how big you are, but these seats were made to be economical to manufacture and they more than likely were never made with the idea of carrying the overweight average American of today.
