Ok, I'll put it into better perspective for you... most people can afford a P.O.S. However, not many can afford America's sports car and it gets more expensive every year!!!
My point was , to compare the total number of cars sold. But I figured that would get a rise out of the Corvette lovers here......they can be so sensitive!
I agree with your sentiment but we both know the probability. For the record I bear no personal malice for any Corvair or any Corvair enthusiast. I'm not clear on your need to shout. But I do feel the need to contribute regarding the popularity of the two vehicles you speak with such authority about. You are Correct regarding the number of Corvairs built. But I feel the need to point out they did stop making that model Chevrolet. Further Corvette has continued to be manufactured and is fast approaching your Corvair high water mark of 1.8 million built having recently assembled the 1,750,000th as evidenced here and elsewhere https://www.corvettemuseum.org/museum-to-raffle-milestone-1-75-millionth-corvette/ . The Corvette will no doubt surpass the Corvair numbers somewhere in the near future as there is continued demand and production as a result of it's POPULARITY. Unfortunately for the Corvair which lacks the same popularity to create sufficient demand to revive the marque and begin production renders it unable to compete against the Corvette any longer. I will be so bold as to assert that there are more Corvettes still in existence than the venerable Corvair. The continuous rise in Corvette prices is a result of strong demand due to it's POPULARITY. Even here on the HAMB there are at least two threads that continue to thrive with Corvette as their focus of topic due to the marques POPULARITY. I am going to hazard a guess that Corvette content on the HAMB far outweighs that of Corvair due to it's POPULARITY. I believe Corvettes POPULARITY dominance over the Corvair extends far beyond the HAMB to the entire internet, magazine coverage, cruise ins, car shows, number and size of clubs and on and on. Have a nice day
I'm going to chime in here. I have nothing to say but I thought I'd chine in anyway. Makes about as much sense as the rest of it. Heh...
Doubtful, Ford won the convertable championship in 56 and Dodge won a lot of races. Both outran the heavier Buicks and Oldsmobiles that year on the dirt tracks used by NASCAR. Chryslers won on the long pavement tracks and Fords and Dodges did on the shorter ones.
Rumble.. Thanks for using the complete word when discussing the vehicle made to today. The word used starting with a "V" should be used for a higher meaning "Veteran"
I always like the "Now and Then" photos, I do the same thing if it's an area I'm familiar with. Gotta say those garage bays looks pretty skinny. Think I would want more space if I was doing a clutch or moving anything big around the car.
