What a great roadster, loaded with subtle original touches. Speeds are amazing for this way built flattie. This hot rod stirs my soul. Thanx for the re-visit.

Such a cool jigger! It would be a real head turner today too!

 

Unlike so many hot rods and street rods in the year of our Lord 2020, this guy knew when to stop.

 

That's Dean Batchelor on the left taking notes. He was the reason Hop Up was such a great magazine.

 

Wow man, that’s a clean machine.

 

There are details of this nice ride that parallel those of a certain '29 roadster that won a big trophy and then disappeared into oblivion, only to appear in the public when it was bought and restored by Jim Jacobs. My favorite detail are the tail-lights sandwiched between the upper and lower horizontal bars. And, a belly pan is one of those details that speak volumes about the thought and care that went into the brain storming and building of this too sweet ride.

 

I had to chuckle at some of the 'negative' comments in the article. I know they're looking to give a balanced review and I appreciate that, though it felt like they were stretching for something to point out.
"A belly-an can add both speed and looks to a car, but one as close to the ground as this one adds little speed, if any, and is very impractical for everyday driving."
"The gear shift is far away, too, and I found myself leaning forward to shift gears." Maybe Bob had longer arms than the guy driving for the review. Haha
