That is a rare Cessna AW. This red one lives at Brodhead airport, Brodhead Wisconsin.

I think its cool that the Warthog air wing chose to guard the back of the very best of generals.

Indeed, the black Airmaster is "eye candy" that flies, but there is this particular red Airmaster that I saw, year after year return to the seaplane base at Oshkosh and the owner would also fly it over to Brodhead Wisconsin to the annual grassroots fly in. The owner knew how rare these planes are, but I will give him credit, he didn't baby it, he flew it everywhere and had it mounted on Amphibious floats. Its great to see a rare classic that is used everyday and taken very good care of.

Lippy, hope you don't mind but I wanted to take a crack at removing those
damn white spots. I dig personal old photos.

If it was too slow I’d bet on a Menasco.

That would be a good guess, the Menasco is less horse power than the Ranger.

  19. It made it back to base safely. There may be a youtube video of the B-17 after it landed.

I don't think this the same B 17, but very similar damage, and it made it home. home.jpg

Looks like the 2nd plane has a chin gun that's still in place. I like the 50cal that's just dangling.

  24. After further research, I believe EL MOE is correct, the first B-17 did not make it back home but did indeed crash in Hungary.
