    Indeed.
They did some cool stuff in the 50's like the Fiat Supersonic's and the Dodge Firearrow concept cars, plus good stuff in the 60's like the De Tomaso Mangusta etc., but they were also responsible from some right shockers as well.....this being definately one of them..!!
Most of the good people they had had already left by the time Ford bought them, and by the mid 70's they were nothing much more than a badge on the side of the top of the range European Ford models like the Cortina, Capri and Granada.

Looks like there was a sale on all the leftover 58-59 chrome at GM and Ghia bought it all! But, if you look at the profile, and mentally make it a notch-back without that huge rear window, it looks like a mid 60s, early 70s Dart or Valiant. The grille even looks like a 201x Dodge, that crosshair thing they're using now.

Basic shape isn't bad, details are awful!

First, I don't see a Celica here and second, it was done before there was any awareness of the Celica in the US, so no.

AMC had a hatchback that looks similar to the 'European' version. Best Sixties fastback was the 64 1/2 Mustang. Carrol Shelby thought so, too.

true story....but folks might have a better opinion of the Falcon if they saw the similarity.
