It's your car, do whatever you want with it. It's not set in stone and, like others have said, you can always change it back if you don't like it.

Does anybody know where I can pick up a copy of one of these lists. It looks like it would be good bathroom reading material.

I also think you might like it sir. As I mentioned earlier, we all have different taste in our cars. But I appreciate your comment. Won't be able to get much done on the project this week. There are a few cars that need my undivided attention, which will allow me to feed the family and pay the bills.

Back in the day, a real hot rodder would use that list for toilet paper....

knowing val, it was probably in the box labeled model A fog lamp. most probably located in the light and lamp sub section in the model A parts area in the back garage.

^^^^^I'm sure that Val utilizes a "Dewey Decmal System" for hot rod part storage. He's a great guy.

Guys, let's try to stay on topic. Take the BS crap and post somewhere else please.

  15. Stu, after planing this in you head over & over for the past 4 years and now making that mental image reality I have to admit it's one of those things that surprised me, I thought it would OK but it turned out better than I thought.

I look forward to seeing everything cleaned up and painted. HRP

Danny: I appreciate you saying that. My whole intention with posting this project, was to show how fabrication takes place. Sometimes seeing the pieces of scrap begin to take shape, gets the creative juices flowing beyond what the planning stage could ever exhibit to our mind. An open mind can be the gateway to unlimited possibilities. Along with you, I've seen quite a few other Hamber's open up their thought process. I regard you as one of the more dedicated folks on the HAMB, and as such, value your input. Huge thank you my friend.

Anyone who ever wondered why Odysseus stuck a wooden stake in the Cyclops's eyeball can take a look at this whole series of images and know in his gut that ugly deserves whatever it gets. Man. I owned a '37 Coupe and the grille was certainly one of the reasons Ford managed to get by with putting the headlights 'in' the fenders for the first time. But, like all who enjoy a good tale, having one about the man who stuck a fog light in his otherwise perfectly good looking grille is right up there with men jumping out of perfectly good airplanes while they're still in the air. Some feel the need to tempt fate. Wooo.

I might have missed it, but are you planning to install the fog light so the edge meets the grill at 3 and 9 or at 12 and 6?

    Hopefully that makes sense.

I've been busy with other projects, but I'm leaning toward pushing the lamp further in to the grille. This picture, the lamp is against the cut grille bars. The lamp won't go in anymore at this point. I'm thinking it would appear better if the lamp was recessed into the ring a bit. As I've probably mentioned before, sometimes actually seeing the pieces in place, and standing back and looking at it from various angles puts it in better perspective.

@Stu D Baker ......put ‘spindles’ on the lamp housing top and bottom, vacuum or electric actuator to turn the housing 180*, attach removed grille bar pieces to back of lamp housing.....bingo...fog light on demand! By the way.....research reveals that is an APPROVED hamb CC modification when done in that manner....says so in Section 106, paragraph 37, sub part F. :D

Given the angle of the cut grille bars, when you shorten them enough to get past the ring and pull them forward won't you have a pretty large gap left between each bar and the ring? If you put the ring in from the rear of the grille and push the cut bars forward you should be able to trim them just enough so that when you push them back to fasten them to the ring there'll be no gap at all.

    I like the look!

  26. At first, most of the comments were against this ( and I have to admit I did not think it would look good either) but after we all saw the pictures with the light installed, most comments are positive ( and I now agree). just goes to show you how with vision and good skills you can think outside the box.
    Great job!

If I could fabricate stuff like you do I wouldn't give a rat's ass what anyone else thought.
