Hot rodder through and through but I am mellowing in my old age.
A nicely done 55 Chevy 210 will always get my attention, but there was a time when it had to be a Bel Air or a hardtop.

Wait till you see the same car with a wheel change. Pic soon.
IMO, sedans look best in 150 or 210 trim.

I've never seen the "corner" bumper guards. Were they a factory option, dealer installed option, or an aftermarket item? Interesting.

spent about 2 hours yesterday afternoon on the grill. Old original chrome, lots of rust on the horizontal bars but it'll have to do for now.
Still rubbing out paint, hope to start buffing next week.

It looked good until we went 90’s billet dash insert and cut the dash for the removal face digital CD player! So glad the H.A.M.B. exist to help educate the hotrod world!

Damn that's a very generous offer, thank you. How long do you think it'd take you to finish rubbing it out for me?

Those can stay! I get tired of the cup lid popping off when I shift and the cup is between my legs.

I was thinking that since I would finish the rubbing and buffing than you would just let me use it for about the next ten years. Deal?

Just spotted this one on cl....its in Oregon...says it was built in the late 50's in Jersey.
From the looks of the parts on it ,I would say its a real one from back in the day. 15996387074388245760745161343450.jpeg 15996387378464168143339933319562.jpeg 15996388704358827274729041164782.jpeg 15996388839258544897957894995015.jpeg 15996387832452525224668113554824.jpeg 15996387972695797362026960927013.jpeg 15996388281562195813091146308951.jpeg

98,000 mile '55 DelRay, split manifold and duals on straight six with a'Glide. No rust ever, never hit, evey pice of sheet metal is original to the car. One repaint. One of the nicest unrestored tried fivers I've ever seen. My friend just closed the deal on it yesterday. Cragars asap. Power of the HAMB: one month ago, I started putting out feelers for a 55. Seems like the best cars never hit the open market. Big players get the inside deals and snap up the best ones. Well, this car came from s private collection. Right place, time, seller and buyer. It's going to be a great cruiser.

  23. Chevy57dude, did you see it in person? It's even better than the great pix.:):):cool:

  24. Yes, actually, in the least obnoxious way possible, I coordinated the deal and inspected the car for my pal, Mark. We're still friends! We brought it home on my trailer yesterday. This morning, we pulled the spare tire out of the well. No holes, even at the very bottom. Factory rubber plugs still in place. Phenomenal to see all the original seam sealer untouched, cardboard panel still attached to the back of the rear seat. Geeked out on all the wiring clips and grounds in place, it's all there.

Those rain shields above the windows gotta go, oops, I forgot, that's not my car.

  26. Damn right! No grandpa shades. They'll be off soon. Once the caps are off, I'll get a pic of it in plain steelies. They probably won't go back on when the Cragars are mounted.

How did you find it? Great to have a little history of the hunt.

  28. A fellow actually contacted me about my '57. He liked the way I put it together, and was a teen in the late 60's when the car scene was in full swing. So it was like an online shop visit. We talked cars for a while, and I mentioned that Mark was going to be in the market for a '55. Like in half a year or so. His OT street strip Nova just isn't his dream car. Wouldn't you know it, the guy has several tri fives. The DelRay being the finest of the bunch. Not to mention some other rare bow ties, like one some surfer band sang about... Said he was thinking about thinning the heard, and would let me know sometime. Couple weeks later, he says there's interest in the '55 and he's selling. However I spoke up first. We never met, but he honored his word to me. The world needs more like him, no doubt. Whirlwind fast track, his gem of a wife agrees with my thoughts '' you go around this ride exactly once''. Go look, crawl all over and under the car, it's right. Commitment on the spot because high roller guys already lined up if we blink.
Not this time, big shots. The regular car guy gets one.

Thanks for the story. It's always fun to know how it all came down in one of these situations.
