I just got back from a short trip a couple towns over to pick up this scrungy old wheel. Anybody know anything about it? It was cheap.
look's like a halibrand that just about every midget and sprint ran back in the 60's and 70's with a newer speedway tractor tire on it
One solid magnesium Halibrand makes for a conversation piece, two of them could make the conversation more lucrative. HRP
Well, alchemy....aren't you just really acting coy and innocent this morning? You have another 11 of those that match, don't you? Lynn
Truth be told, it's not my wheel. It was found by my 17 year old nephew on Facebook Marketplace and he couldn't get over there to pickitup. So I did it so the prize wouldn't get away. But I am so proud of him for finding it and making the deal. The kid also loves flatheads and 32 Fords. His acorn didn't fall far from the tree. I do have a few of these wheels in my stash, but it's always nice to know the next generation is interested in this stuff too.
I know....he's had many offers to buy over the years, but doesn't need the money and just loves the wheels. Wish I was that lucky...or rich...Bob
LOL that is the missing wheel that fell off the back of my truck 55 years ago. Thanks for finding it for me.
Yep ........definitely one of two rear steer wheels for a mid 1950's Gleaner self propelled combine !! Bring it to Greenfield next week and I'll take it off your hands. I'll bring that Stewart Warner 120mph speedo out of my Willys Jeep project and we can trade even up.
Jeff,I was out in State Center Saturday before last and bought 2 wheels but they are not nearly as interesting as yours...18 in 32 wires Phillip
