I have been needing to post more on the HAMB and get some good ol information because I'm stupid. I joined the HAMB in Jan 2003 but forgot my log in and got a new email so that old momentumfoto account is inactive. I am in the progress of stabbing a 8CM into my Roadster... here what I'm working with. 8CM built by Dyno Don Chamberlin dropped front axel 46 X-Member stock model A chassis 29 roadster body
I had to obviously fix this trans mount in the X-Member. I had to build up a few pieces of square tubing like a puzzle to make it work. I will drill new holes when I know where the trans sits.
@13clicks I believe I saw your A dazzler in the Dazzle Thread Ryan started a while back... It has a real Vintage Jalopy Vibe to it...would you mind sharing some money shots of it when you had it running before this newest update... I like your friend in your Avatar...Mr Juxtapose...that would've been a pretty cool milestone in your life...
Hey thanks Stogy, I will post some fun pictures of the Jail Bird I have. I was at Santa Barbara TROG drags and Robert Williams did say he loved my roadster. I got a picture with him and was the highlight of lifetime as I am a huge fan his cool art. Thanks for the Dazzle link... I will look for it. Have a great day! Blake
That was a great event...participating in it even better...here's the dazzle link Blake... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/wwi-dazzle.1189648/
been doing some X member work as well as pulled off the body from the frame. made the 2 ends at the rear of the x member thinner to fit into the frame. I took out about 2in. Engine is sitting at zero for now... just seeing where it was at. I cut out the rear of the front cross member for a better engine fit... pulley was needing more space. I also had to fill in one hole that was where the member was thinned out. I took this photo before the final welding was done. I
back at it... I need some options on the pedals and x-member to frame connection. Photos would be amazing if you have some. thanks. 1- The pedals need to be heated and bent to the right so they clear the frame. This will tell me where the x-member should tie into the frame. 2- I was told that the pedals will be too far back if mounted in the stock spot they're in here in the photo. 3- What are my options for the pedal side of the x-member (where my arm is in the photo) connecting to the frame? I am sure there are a few different ways due to the first two questions here.
I put a 39 X member in my 29 frame. I just looked and the front lower mounting bolt for the 39 pedal assembly is straight across from the front hole of the body mount tab. I think you are pretty close. You can see what I did here.
@oldsboy covered what he ended up doing with his pedals in his build thread of his T sedan. Might be helpful? roadster looks rad!
Another thought. You could mount your radiator, mount your motor and trans, then line up you trans mount. Then you would have the right position.
Check the lower radiator outlets and the water pumps to make sure they are lined up enough to connect the radiator hoses BEFORE you weld in the motor mounts...especially with a flathead!
