I just got back from a short trip a couple towns over to pick up this scrungy old wheel. Anybody know anything about it? It was cheap.

  7. What is the mystery ? It looks like a Halibrand 6 pin wheel to me.

look's like a halibrand that just about every midget and sprint ran back in the 60's and 70's with a newer speedway tractor tire on it

The simplicity of the design suggests it came off a hay wagon.
    Seriously though, nice find ;)

I kinda thought it was from a fancy tractor. That front tire has got to be useful in the dirt.

  11. One solid magnesium Halibrand makes for a conversation piece, two of them could make the conversation more lucrative. :D HRP

Truth be told, it's not my wheel. It was found by my 17 year old nephew on Facebook Marketplace and he couldn't get over there to pickitup. So I did it so the prize wouldn't get away. But I am so proud of him for finding it and making the deal. The kid also loves flatheads and 32 Fords. His acorn didn't fall far from the tree.

I do have a few of these wheels in my stash, but it's always nice to know the next generation is interested in this stuff too.

Some dirt farmer would be styling with a pair of those on the front of his John Deere.

I know....he's had many offers to buy over the years, but doesn't need the money and just loves the wheels. Wish I was that lucky...or rich...Bob

Yep ........definitely one of two rear steer wheels for a mid 1950's Gleaner self propelled combine !! Bring it to Greenfield next week and I'll take it off your hands. I'll bring that Stewart Warner 120mph speedo out of my Willys Jeep project and we can trade even up.

Scrungy is how you feel after working under a car on a gravel driveway all day.

Better check the date code before you run that tire.
