Original paint. Runs and drives. Pretty complete. She will give up her life for my coupe.

    Well it’s almost thanksgiving and I am thinking about working on the coupe again. I’m thinking about what engine I will use. I have had this sitting around for years. I actually have 3 old hemi engines. Should I build one or sell them all and buy something else? Thoughts?

    I think you got a great deal on the 4 door. I am a fan 4 doors. Hopefully you can pass on what's left of it to someone that needs it. I would build one of those hemi' and stuff it the coupe.I have a 341 I plan to put in my coupe.

    Disassemble and pick the best parts from each of all the 3 hemis. Sell the rest.

    Why not use the 4 door drive line, its a bolt in, and you have all the parts and it runs ? And put the hemi in a nice Mopar .

    Had some time to get back to the project. It’s been awhile. Wife had some health issues. Pulled out the seats and found a pretty nice floor pan. Even though I did some major repairs to the floor in the coupe, I think I’m going to cut the floor and the cowl out of this 4 door and put it in the coupe. This should make the coupe look a little less molested in the end.

    Interesting, I've just done this on my sedan, but couldnt see why they put that massive recess on the inner arch, so I just put a bead in it. I did check that I could get the tank in and out, but i'm going to check again now....

    Back from the garage, that recess isn’t to do with tank removal, because when you remove it, you slide it to the filler one last side, and drop it down thru the chassis rails on this side, then slide it out, so it’s the filler knock side you need the room on.

    I just bought some parts from carpenter, not good quality. Had to make major changes to the parts.

    Pulling the necessary parts away and preparing to make a cut at the windshield posts. I was moving along with repairs on my original parts and then this 40 sedan came up. It will make a much better coupe using this floor pan and cowl clip. My old cowl had been involved in a channel hack job many years ago. It’s kind of hard parting out this complete and running car. The good news is, the parts will be bringing two coupes back to life.

    Hate to see the 4 Door being sliced and diced. I leased one, when I was working on a Hot Rod movie as the 'car co-ordinator', un-credited but promised --- hence lack of movie title. . The young director didn't use it for background, so it was my staff car. It was a restoration, naturally, but had a later '49-'51 Flathead. There is something unique about them as people movers, and in how the doors and rear window are so well proportioned, that seeing one aside a 2 Door, you realize they are perfect. And, the number of stampings, extra rear doors and space make them ideal daily drivers. I have been close to buying one, and missed it. And, now with a '40 Pickup in the pipeline it will be a long time coming before I get to reach in the murk to see if any are left from guys like you. Bye the bye, my first car was a channeled Coupe with a built flathead, thirty nine trans, Jeep seats and tricked out original suspension. All these years later I can't quite wipe the smile off my face. Keep on keepin' on, and never lose the faith.

    Great story! I really hope that someone buys the old girl and uses my extra parts to put her back together. For now, I’m only worried about my coupe. Thanks for watching.

    Cutting the floor out of the coupe and preparing it for the sedan floor/ FC11C73A-9D16-4ACF-B26F-0039DB06585E.jpeg cowl transplant. I know I already did repairs to the coupe floor and it seems like wasted motions but the parts that I have now are so nice that I have to do it. As they say, “that’s hot ridding”

    Today I made the big cut on the coupe. I think things are going to work out fine. I am going to mock up the 4 door sedan with all my extra parts.

    I assume by now you haveseen that door tops on the fordoor are shapped differently than the coupeso the ends have to be either sliced down to fit (seam weld the cuts, TIG welder would make it cleaner) or you can cut down approx 3/8" and trim the remainig top piece you cut off to fit the coupe contour.
    My doors (39 fordoor) have different dimensions due to who knows what but the doors are in great condition compared to the original 40's. I also like the 1 piece glass and "smokers" feature and there is less chance of water leaking in (I do not smoke LOL)
    sorry no readily available pictures, I will upload tomorrow the completed doors.
