Perfect car for a custom. I like your color combination too. Here's a before pic of my girlfriend's 51, along with some photoshops that OahuEli did and finally the actual finished product. Nearly the exact same colors you have picked out. Also, I'm on board for the Cadillac caps, whitewalls, spotlights, and lake pipes you have picked out (although I'd not use the 3 tip ones, they're kinda 80's style) but I'd leave the visor.

    This is the before pic

This is the color scheme she originally wanted, in photoshop rendering

    darktopandbottom.jpg

    This was a second option

    551ChevySquablowlttopoverbottom.jpg

And the third option, which really struck us both as the right choice once we saw it.

Then here's the actual car, in the same spot, after painting it to match the photoshop.

And a finished/assembled pic, later at a car show

She has spotlights to go on the car as well, just haven't gotten around to installing them yet.

    @RMONTY

Look, Ma, here's one we didn't have to photoshop. The real deal.

Any way I can get one of you fine folks to change my car from this yellow to this green with a black top and wheels? 20190706_145039.jpg 20200901_104409.jpg 20130905_185637.jpg

    Me bad.

I guess I'm just used to Dzus buttons. Tried the self-tapping screws once, lost a couple of discs as the GM wheels liked to flex. Never bothered to check the air pressure frequently as I was too lazy to unscrew them and screw them back on – plus that makes the screws even looser. The solution to that is to move the valve stems inside, but that's a pain in the ass to get under and read them.

    YER Correct on every issue,
I have tried also, cause I love the look. Even put them on my car trailer, lost three out of four on a hundred mile trip...:(:(

That's crazy, there's an Apache Flats just outside town, here!

  17. Hey, at least I didn't say St. Martins, or Etterville. I was going to say "Tempe" but I KNEW he wouldn't believe that one!

(And actually, I messed up...I was thinking Tortilla Flat and mixed my metaphors...)

er, a friend of a friend wanted to know what the bad news T would look like without the whitewalls, just blackwall cheater slicks on the back and blackwall tires mounted to hallcraft laced spindle mounts up front.

  20. I've done this a couple times now with great results, I loctite a button head stainless machine screw in from the backside, then run a standard lock washer and nut onto the "stud", add Moon disc then little washer and nylock nut.
They've never came loose in the many years of doing it, now of course they would look racier with dzus but that would require someone to tig the bracket on the aluminum rim.

The photo I wanted photoshopped was removed because the donor car for the grill had billet wheels? You guys are worse than Southern Baptists.

Let's see if we can get this again. I've always wanted to see the Edsel grill replaced with that of a '32 Ford. I'm posting 2 different angles of the Edsel, but I'll leave it to you to find a suitable '32 Ford grill.

Hmmm... can you widen the grill to the same width as a normal '32 Ford grill and narrow the bumpers?

  25. That's just wrong on so many levels.

    Thanks!

I have to say, that's not all that bad. Not all that good, either, I suppose, but not all that bad.

Had one of those, sold it for $8500.

A couple years ago I saw it was a "barn find". Certainly looked like it. Nothing changed, just deteriorated. Sold for $171,000 (supposedly).
