Aircleaner Sorry folks I am building a flathead with a dual carb setup and would like to see some pictures of yours, to get a good idea for my engine I would love to see some homebuilt solutions and a description of what parts you have used https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R15r1hnLSw&feature=share&fbclid=IwAR01z3Qr5-A2u3ASSmurYq9nD2U-bs3U6bDXBSE2vD14MGriUzjhwh0AqVA
I'm not really running air cleaners, just air horns with screens from Speedway. There are foam filters that fit over the air horn if you want to run them. Probably not the best idea but won't ingest anything big and doubt it'll shorten the engine life much. I'm sure this will draw some negative comments.
Bought a K & N filter for a Porsche at a swap meet. Made my own top and bottom from 1/8 in aluminum. I figured you can’t feed an engine TOO much air—-it will use what it needs. Seems to work well as street driven 32 cabriolet turns 80 mph in 1/8 mile with a flathead and 3:89 geared 9 in Detroit Locker at the track/ normal gear is 2:75 so 70 mph and 5 spd overdrive puts rpm around 2,000. Those cheesy chrome air filters are very restrictive and probably contribute heavily to the cars running rich and fouling plugs.
Did you say homebuilt? One of my favorite passtimes. Triumph motorcycle Harley horns Utility pole caps
35 Ford oil bath air cleaners modified to run a K&N air filter. I think the same as the first picture you posted, with offset bases to allow 2 to be installed together.
Another picture of the Grace and Co air cleaners that someone posted earlier. This the chrome one. I have see people build similar using early Ford centre caps.
