The original aluminum “D” came out in 1965 to coincide with the first disc brake Corvettes :

 

The original magnesium “D” came out prior to the aluminum ones. It does not clear disc brakes :

Most of the wheels you have just posted are hard to come by. Magnesium D's I think it safe to say are on the rare side.

 

I agree, I haven’t bought any in at least the last 25 years.

 

A C3 Corvette guy has 4 15x8.5 magnesium Torque Thrust "D"s for sale @ Carlisle going on now. Price is $4000.00 with Goddyear RSA 225 70R 15 tires.

Sorry, Danny. I didn't see your 2017 question 'till just now. Photo was taken 1993 when my brother [in photo] and I drove the shubox over to DesMoines for a Goodguys event. We were at his house, loading up his stuff to go and he was giving the little woman a good by kiss.. Sold that car at the event. BTW, those wheels were genuine JA-Pan 14/6" wheels. My brother hand polished them for the event.

 

Glad this came back around. I posted these loose on page 15 and said I would re-post when they found their way onto the car. kinda forgot about it but here it is.

 

I just bought these 16x11 Magnesiums on FB Marketplace, right place, right time...
Now I need some 15x4 fronts to match!

I've just got the bigs on mine for "race mode" lol, would like to get something shinier for the front.

Thanks, I love the look too, so much attitude.
The slicks are 29.5x10.5 on 15x8.5s.

Next year I'm wanting some pie crust cheaters as close to that size as I can get, and some short radials for the front for a wee bit more rake. Probably some kidney beans or altered front wheels, or maybe chrome steelies.
It'd be fun to change them up from the skinny bias plies to the fat slicks randomly.
