Mat, I am thoroughly enjoying this build. Great work man!

I'm glad to see those UPAC parts working out so good, I am going to have to use them on this thing.

    Thanks!

They are working out well. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

Damn, you will need some sheet metal for sure! What are you guys building? And what’s the story on that body?!?!

    Update time....

I've got the passenger side roof, door, and drip rail caught up to the drivers side.

I de-rusted my set of 25 louver hood sides in vinegar. This was my first attempt using vinegar. It was super happy how it worker. The hood sides are rough but so was the rest of the body, so why not save them? I've had these for about 10 years. I bought a 32 BB parts truck and they were on it. I've hung on to them for all that time. I'm excited to actually use them.

I picked up one nice hood top from @hotrodhoodlum and I'm soaking the other one that came with the sides.

The inner header panel is in and tied into the A-pillars. Plus I finally got some bracing out of the inside. It's starting to get nice and solid.

Finished welding in the header panel and fixed the insert channel with what was left of the UPAC roof.

Chop ended up 4-7/8" to 5-1/2".

One last update, then I’m moving again......for the the 6th time in 5 years! The updates will slow a bit until my shop is ready and I get the 32 moved over there. Hopefully in a couple of months I’ll be at it again.

I got the roof wood glued, screwed and polyed.

I also stumbled my way through woodworking. I had to extend the main rails 1-1/2” because the coupe roof insert opening is back farther.

This thing was rusted everywhere. I fixed the back of the A-pillar under the door.

I finished the welding around the insert channel and straightened the rest of the roof.

Next, I made the inner pieces over the doors. I didn’t have anything to start with so I built the pieces with my shrinker/stretcher and brake. I was thinking about buying the wood for over the doors. But I figured Id build something cool. Plus I got to use my dimple dies again. It took me 3 tries. It was a bitch getting all the holes even and straight. I used a “drill guide” to get it right.

All of this will be exposed. I really want a raw look for the interior. The holes will continue past the quarter windows.

I finally have my own shop with my project in it, after way too long!

I moved the 32 over here about a month ago.

I’ve been working on getting the hood squared away. I’ve had these 25 louver sides for at least 12 years. I bought a BB truck for parts for my 34 and these were on it. I’m glad I actually held on to them.

They were extremely rough and I wasn’t sure I could actually save them.

I needed to get the hood on because I want to start building the motor mounts and I want everything to fit under hood. I had to push it back about 3” to make it.

Is that the engine you will be using or a mockup only. THAT is some serious horsepower.

  19. Terrific progress, Matt. Cool lightened door frames.

Awesome job with the hood sides too. I love it when guys use slightly tweaked stock parts; so the car looks sorta stock-ish, but inexplicably better than what came off the assembly line.:cool:

    Loudbang,

Yeah, this is the motor I’m running. I haven’t said much about it because all though it looks traditional. It’s not a H.A.M.B. friendly motor. It’s actually a Gen III Hemi.

Plus it’s getting a couple of turbos!

Not sure how the mods feel about it. I can just keep showing the body work if it’s not allowed on this board.

Wow. A LOT of nice work, Matt.
    Looking really good now.
You guys who build cars from pieces. Super inspiring.
From what it was to what it is...
    ... like magic.
Demanding, labor intensive, knuckle busting magic.

  25. Nice to see this build moving and posting progress on the board again!

I’ve got a little more done on the sedan.

I bought this Nash Metropolitan dash when I first bought the body. I needed a little change of pace from all the rust repair.

I narrowed it and tied into the cowl. I also add AC vents, defroster vents, and added the heat and AC controls. I couldn’t be happier how it turned out.
