I never really noticed before but Ford adopted a uni-brow over the windshield in ‘56, another feature I don’t care for and don’t understand. They should have left the front alone and just added the big back window.
Sgtlethargic, I’ll stick with my comment, the Chevy trucks have some unfortunate styling cues too, muffin tops on the rear fenders for one.

Wow guys. Hook, line and sinker.
Can you tell when you are being baited?

  4. Huh?

  5. Has as much as comparing one year from another in the same styling run. A whole lot more ford trucks customized then chebies or any other make.

you post derogatory crap about a specific year and make ford pu, and then post fullsize picture[might not be a 56] that is all we need to know. why this thread has not been deleted is beyond me

An all original 56 short bed, big window restored
nicely with 272 and overdrive just left my buddies
    shop for $30,000. I like them a lot and drove a 56
for several years as my daily driver, work truck.
Hauled Shrimp and crabs with it and used it on
construction jobs. 272 with an automatic. totally
reliable and rugged. Just as Ford meant for these
trucks to be. The auto trans was especially handy.
It used low and high similar to a power glide, but
had a wicked low gear when selected manually.
It would pull like an early stick shift with a "grandma"
gear. Best looking and functioning truck I ever had.

None that I've hit on. But there's always hope.

What are your issues? Why are you taking offense? If someone discussed what they thought were the not-so-good-looking style features of Edsels would you have the same issues? Why can't we talk about the styling of cars? The styling of cars is a pretty big aspect of the HAMB.

Geez! I like 56 over 3, 4,5, lowered with a rake they look 10' wide and nasty coming at ya.

  12. For the record I think the ‘56 Ford is one of the prettiest trucks of all time
But I just can’t get on board with negative postings. It’s like the negative comments at a car show; if you don’t like it, just keep moving. I can find something positive in almost any car I see. And even if I 100% hate it, I still respect the time that has been put into it.

Where I grew up most custom vehicles were cars, but if someone had a fixed up truck it was a 56 Ford big window ,
Runner up truck was the Chevy Cameos. I love the 56 Fords , a few friends over the years have had them. But as life has gone I just never got any.

    Eh I like em well enough but I'd take a 53-55 over a 56.

The wrap around windshield does it for me with this body style. Gorgeous.

my issues are if someone is going run there mouth and talk smack, they better know what there talking about you don't even know the difference between a 53-55 and 56. if you would have took the same time that it took to post your negative bs to find out the differences we wouldn't be having this conversation. why post something when it's obvious that your clueless about 56 f-100's post something you know about

  18. That one's not bad. Maybe the wild paint breaks things up enough. And the wheels/tires in relation to the fender arches (if you can call those arches).

  19. I don't care for the series, and other Ford trucks are quite awkward, too.

My criticisms have been soft serve.

    People could address my criticisms.

56 F100, is that truck shortened? Looks tight between the cab and fender. I have a 54 I am re-doing and want to do that.

  21. Instead of criticizing the styling of a particular make and model, why not share what you are working on? HRP

  22. I've been staring at this one too. Was thinking the same thing but... d'you think maybe the chop, the stance, and the beefy wheel and tire combo come together to make this thing look shortened? I dunno. At the very least there's an inch or so, here and there, shaved off this thing. A LOT of work. It's killer.

  25. Critiquing styling to determine which is 'best' is a losing proposition. One mans beauty can be another's ugly ex-wife. While styling can sell new cars, over the long haul it seldom defines 'worth' if there's other shortcomings.

While I like the '53-56 Ford trucks, I'd take a '57 Ford styleside over one any day of the week... but that's just me.

^^^^ Totally agree. Sgt wanted to discuss’56 F100 popularity and style, just keeping his thread alive with my 2 cents worth of observations.

My Mom bought me this same truck at the grocery store when I was a kid and ever since I wanted a real one. I brought that truck everywhere man. It was awesome.
