I need some bare bones taillights for my trailer built for my single seater. I used farmall tractor headlights on the car and I had a spare set so I bought two $8 trailer tail lights, did a bit of grinding and massaging to combine the two. They will work perfect for the trailer but would be a bit ruff to put on a car. B9CF22E5-D89C-42E5-9A96-FE1EC3F74ECB.jpeg

If 59 Cad lights are over used 39 Ford’s are over the top.

As well as the '41-'48 Chevy lights that I'm putting on my '26 Chevy roadster anyway. They are not overdone on '26 Chevy roadsters. I dare you to show me 20 of them with that setup. :D

  9. Not sure I would call them different or unique but I am using some small motorcycle lights on mine. 20190728_163345.jpeg

Kaiser Dragon has a custom taillight ready to go in any reshaped tail fin.

    Hello,

My wife has her ways about doing things. If she wants to see a historic homes section of the OC and wants me to go with her, I am all for it. But, she knows that the addition of a closed off street with historic cars and hot rods is a pull I cannot resist. That and a great lunch nearby at a Mexican food restaurant. (the historic homes and hot rod show have all been postponed until 2021 if this pandemic blows over)

Her liking of convertibles goes way back to 1948 when her mom bought a 1947 Buick convertible when they live in Pacoima. Who wouldn’t want a convertible in hot Pacoima? But ever since, she has like a 56 Buick Skylark, a 56 Chevy Bel Air convertible and even a convertible version of my old 58 Impala, including those 6 taillight lenses.

The coolest thing as far as she was concerned on the 56 Chevy was the flip open gas filler cap mechanism.

    upload_2020-8-22_4-8-43.png
THAT flip open gas filler taillight and that it be attached to her favorite 56 Chevy.. a clean two door wagon and American 5 spoke mags from So Cal.

    Jnaki

But for some reason, she liked the huge fin-like taillights of the Kaiser Dragon convertible. (A 55,56 or 57 Chevy custom taillight installation?)

Me too....'29 Packard CM Hall, Detroit...I really get off on different lights...it would be so kool to have a wall display of hundreds of different taillights.

As far as cool, stylish, unique, hard as hell to find, these are very cool " Nash " Rambler tail lights.

Some of the most interesting cars built were the "Last Ditch" efforts from the independents. Knowing they were loosing the battle, not really knowing why, doing what they could the catch the eye.

My $.02 worth. 59 caddy ok if sunken, never overdone if look good. All taillights should be mounted high & bright if actually driven on the road. Way to many nitwits on the roads & on their phones. Lots of new cars get rear ended & even trucks. Keep ‘em hi & bright or on the trailer

  23. Weird I can't remember the last time I saw (in person) a pair of 59 Cadillac tail lights used in a custom. I've always like them.
The 39 Fords are what I have always thought were over used but then again they were probably over used in the period as well.

I have always like late 50s Corvette tail lights in customs

I've got a set of 50 Pontiac tail lights that have Bob Drake stamped on the back.

I cannot recall seeing any ‘59 Caddy lights in along time let alone a ‘59 Caddy.

All great tail light choices. The 1950 Lincoln lite always looked great to me in the 1946-48 Mercury/ ford.

Our rough 34 Chev sedan which is growing into a fenderless 34 Chev sedan delivery. Tail lights are aftermaket 39 Chev sedan units.
