  3. Wow, nice! Maybe too nice.

The name's pretty cool, too. As is Terraplane. Although neither sounds like a truck name.

A 1934 Dodge pickup is pretty nice looking.

  6. Hmmm... It's the Powell. Yeah! Definitely the Powell! :D:D:D

Nah... The poor thing looks like what happens when a UPS truck humps a Frigidaire. :D But, all jokes aside, I love how barebones utility this thing is. Hell, the first gen '55 models came factory with wood bumpers. $995 new for the "Sport Wagon" *wink-wink* version!

Oh, and just look at this thing with it's body formed over a log, and Ford grille trim, settin' on top of a recycled 40's Plymouth passenger car chassis. All this AND a fishing pole drawer in the inner bed wall. What's not to love? :D:D:D

I would say the best truck for me is one I can fit into.

Looked at a 48 Ford Bonus and Im a tight fit inside the cab. Some years (and many sausage rolls) later I sat in an AD 48 Chev pickup and its day and night. Heaps of room in the Chev for a big boy.

But if I was a 5 ft 7 runt that weighed 150lbs, I would be looking at a 28/29 A model Ford pickup - probably fully fendered, but fenderless would be okay too.

But Im not 5 ft 7 and Im nowhere near 150lbs

  8. When I was a kid, neighbor down the block had a black 54/55 Nash pickup. I thought it was neat because I never saw another one. Since he owned a AMC dealership, I just figured he told the factory what he wanted and they built it for him.

I have always been partial to 1948/1952 Ford F1’s , so my 1948 F1 fit the bill.

  10. Not the Terraplane.

I really like the F1s , but they need to have the front axle moved forward , otherwise they are looking a bit nose heavy.

My tastes run to a bit earlier. Hudson Essex and Terraplane have a nice line to them.
Would love to get my hands on a '22.

Too many choices! There's some slick pick ups in the above posts, some pretty rare. I know what my favorite is, but it's just outside the parameters here.

  20. I'm a pickup guy.
There are so many great looking designs by most all of the manufacturers, that it would be hard to choose a "best".
Whatever pickup you own, get it out on the road so people can appreciate it like you do.

For styling, the 55 Chevy was a huge leap forward.

I like 36 Chevys, but it's hard to cuss any old truck.

  28. [IMG] The '50s Studebaker trucks always had nice proportions kinda like they were mildly chopped and channeled from the factory.
