Man this thing is huge. And heavy. I’ll measure it up and give you the dimensions so you can see if you can make it work or not. It was given to me, so I’d give it to you if you think you could use it, it’d just be a pain to ship. And probably costly. I’m in Missouri, but I’m in the Nashville area every two or three weekends, if you would want to road trip to there and get it.

Looks like it’s 16” wide, 12” deep counting the fan that sticks out the back, and 8” in height. And heavy. Lol.

The hose fittings and expansion valve are kind of funky, too, as I recall.

I have been doing a lot of research on the mark IV lately. One of the guys I spoke with worked for John Mitchell that made those back in the 60s he actually helped develop or design the monitor grill. He was saying the Mark IV va repop was not the original size or BTU of the allegro that was very popular. (See pictures of va to original Mark IV) I actually bought some literature and found it was closer to a smaller unit. A lot of the newer underdash AC look cheap in plastic. I don’t see why not use one that was built in the 60s that was built in USA. One of my parts ac Mark IV had been outside for a number of years when I started to clean it up in the fan was starting to get free I hooked it up just for giggles and lowand behold the fan word. Most of these AC units have very similar technology but the older ones seem to have bigger BTU numbers and more appealing aesthetics. There are several videos on YouTube where they show rebuilding them. Basically it’s cleaning the vents of the evaporator much like you would at home. Disassemble clean paint reassemble put on a new expansion valve between $15-$30

I pulled this unit from my parts car, I wanna install it in my 63. Dont really want to restore it, I just want to clean it up and use it. Is there any place to get replacement parts for these? My wife sure would appreciate any info.

I believe the grills from a Mustang under dash will work. Some of the mustang vendors sell these parts. Basically you can take lacquer thinner and poured in the tubes and let it sit then pour it out to get any old junk from the Freon out. The other thing you can do is get evaporator cleaner, spray it and use one of those comb similar for cleaning out a radiator fan. Some good videos on YouTube.
I just got back from my first trip from Bonneville. I kept reading up and all the stuff with the heat there , drinking water all day only to find it wasn’t as bad as Oklahoma. UT had no humidity the evenings were cool.
I like to drive my cars you’re around and I hate seeing them parked just because it’s hot. It has definitely been more humid here in Oklahoma the last couple weeks because we are getting unseasonably amounts of rain.

    I like that.

I have this intermittent idea to use an evaporator coil above an insulated headliner to stop radiant heat – not recently because it's midwinter here. I really don't like that coccoon-like feel an air-conditioned car has. I prefer open windows. A cool roof might just take the edge off any remaining discomfort.

the only thing I know about AC is people will pay a bunch of money for junk factory Harrison in dash AC from a 1960 El Camino. bought two El Caminos for $500.00 for the pair and got $400.00 from the AC parts:) ... no compressor or anything bolted to the motor. just the inside parts.
