So I have a few questions...how much longer are the doors on a Dorset compared to a Devon?
Also...how wide is the front end supposed to be outside of the fenders side to side? The front end on mine is junk and I wanted to get going on fixing the chassis and getting an axle for the front.

Some really great looking Austins and red color is a killer for sure.

  4. Really happy that I stumbled on this thread... Just picked up this old girl earlier this week. I have been trying to find some history on it but no luck yet.. Located an hour east of Detroit in Chatham, Ontario, Canada

Cool find, the only chopped 4dr Austins I've ever seen are these two, maybe it's one of these?
Rear fenders don't look like they've been cut though.

The McCullough gasser is for sale locally (to me) - sure hope it finds a good home.

Does anyone happen to know the difference in length of a Devon door compared to a Dorset door?

I measured both doors just below the chrome trim. Devon Dorset doors.jpg

I guess I missed this thread somehow, lots of great old Austins.
I've had mine for about three years, imagine my surprise when I saw it in the first picture in Post #31 by 33hemi. It was old red oxide primer with the snorkle hood scoop just like that when I first got it. It looked like an old '70s bracket racer. It was licensed and running (sort of) with a single four barrel 350 SBC and TH350. It's all steel and the earliest pictures I've seen are from Nebraska in 1964, I would still like to know more of the history.
I sanded off the primer, repaired a few chassis issues and put a 355 inch blown small block in it. It's been to several events and I drive it to the occasional cruise night. The chassis is not capable of making passes as it is but I'm hoping to get it back in shape eventually, it would be great to make a pass at Eagle Field or Bakersfield.
