Hello Mark the body was for sale at a swap meet run by the nsra England at an old stock car track down the South East my youngest is 31 years now and he got it when he was 8 I think he got it for £30 it says £50 on it with a line through. Anyway a long time ago. Then he got into bmx bikes and stuff so it never got built. My daughter has 3 boys and my eldest son has 2 girls to boys. So there's plenty of scope if they want to get involvedy, but you no what there like these days if it don't plug in it don't happen.

Cool build on the Purple People Eater....
And on that little body thats posted that looks like a vintage mini Indy car body, for some reason it looks very familiar to me, possibly saw something in one of my old Hot Rod magazine's....if I run across it I will post it...
Now look what happened, I just spotted one similar sitting on my desk, I need to quit sitting up so late....sorry. 15954975699043621460100756841336.jpeg 20200723_025806.jpeg

Very good, I no its not the shape of the dragster but I think with paint and an inscription on similar lines it would be nice for the kids and thay would take more notice of this outstanding post. It definitely is more indy car than dragster. Mark I'm sorry I jumped the gun (again) when I saw that fantastic piece of art work. It should be yours to cherish, but when I saw it the want one went off in my head. All the very best take care.

I have no idea how I could have missed this thread! What a resurrection!
Mark , you did a great job bringing that old Canadian dragster back to live... My uncle is in Kingston, Ontario and maybe I get a chance to drop by for a little glimpse on the PPE next time I´ll be there. In the meantime I´ll be watching from here, haha

  9. Good to hear from you Baumi.... next time you back in Ontario visiting you r Uncle definitely come down my way to check out the old dragster and enjoy a cold beer....lol...... probably by time you get here from Germany I'll have the "Purple People Eater" up and running. Thanks again for the support...... it's been a great adventure. 110336299_2734794053416186_7340071183865030951_n.jpg

  11. Much appreciated Steve!!!!...your good vibes are always welcome!!

  12. Great Saturday ...old friend and talented stripper Danno dropped into the shop to lay down the stripping and lettering the old dragster wore back in 1957......he even climbed into the cock pit to feel that dragster vibe...lol..... I would say that smile on his face speaks volumes....lol..... we all get hooked when we sit in the seat and look down the length of the body and imagine were going 130. :)

  15. all I can say is WOW................

  16. Richard laid down the clear on the body panels and all I can say is ...wow....the white really pop's and the purple is so deep and they haven't even been buffed yet...lol. I can only think how tough this body was when I dragged it out of a field in northern Ontario..... Richard (Rich Refinishing A/B ) has certainly surpassed my expectations...... the story continues.

@Fast Elvis...you're nailing it Bigtime...you have a great team of friends in Hotrod land...to assist in getting things right...

This certainly hightlights how brilliant the good Ole days were despite largely b&w coverage in the zines...

  27. Great picture brother...where does the time go...lol.....the old dragster has certainly come a long way back from the grave.

  28. I'm certainly blessed Stogy to have some talented pals that have helped me a ton over these past 5 years to get this piece of rare drag racing history to where it is today. It's also been a lot of fun watching my pals become committed to the project over that length of time.....here's a few pic's of the team....Russ, Richard, Dave, Danno and yours truly....lol..... it's been a great adventure for sure. Thanks to all of you for your kind comments above....they are certainly shared with the guys and they all say "thanks".
