  2. Finally finished a model yesterday after a long hiatus. It's the Monogram Slingshot Dragster reissue straight from the box. Unfortunately the kits decals dissolved when I applied the clear coat, so I had to use some from the spares box.

again it's been a while since my last posting.Since then I had the basement/mancave/hobby room waterproofed so no more streams of water after hard rains. They did leave it quite dusty from the jack hammering and it took me the month of July to get everything cleaned up.At our last club meeting a member brought a kit that has been my holy grail,it's the SMP '60 Chevy El Camino.I traded a few built ups and probably 5 or 6 kits that I brought for selling or trading, both of us were happy with the deal and couldn't wait to get it home to start on it.It was missing the decals(no big deal) otherwise it was complete and I did have to re-chrome the front bumper/grill.I had to paint and strip it 3 times because of the junk Bare Metal Foil I was trying to use for the brite work, eventually threw away all 3 sheets and just let it go as is with no foiling. So here is the final result, color is Revving Red,Fabric Tan interior, wheels and disc brakes are from Pegasus and I sanded off all the rivets on the bed cover and used Gopher decals Carbon Fiber on it.It's one of those looks good from 6ft models....lol

The rear bumper had a slight warp to it and upon trying to use the heat from my fingers to straighten it I snapped it in half and had to get crafty from the parts box using bumperettes from an AMT Galaxie kit and the center bar I have no idea where that originated from.

Also just finished this Revell '26 Ford T Sedan Delivery,Lil John Buttera version. All parts were primered gray from Model Master followed by Tamiya Light Gun Metal base and Tamiya Brilliant Blue top coat and Tamiya Pearl Clear.

The red roof and interior was done using Fabric Tan and Italian Red over that with semi gloss clear over that, decals are from Gopher.

Suspension on front and rear tests your patience but quite surprised how well it went together.Used Tamiya black wash for highlights

Sorry I have not been here more often but hopefully that will change. Thanks for looking and any and all comments you wish to share good or bad.Happy Modeling !

Oh the indignity! The Stone, Woods and Cook Willys on the hook. Seriously, nice work, that rusty, bent up sheet metal on the tow truck is very convincing.

This is the second of two models I found that my son put together when
he was thirteen. I think it has a pretty good look that fit the times. Notice
if you can the price on the box, $6.48 from K Mart.

Great! Good luck with it & have fun. Make sure you mix the iron black paint REALLY good, it has a ball inside like a rattle can of paint. If you don't hear it move when you shake it up, stick a long stick in & move the ball around to get it loose. Then shake the hell out of it. When you add the rust solution put it on heavy & seal the part in a zip lock bag and let it sit for at least 3 hours. I sometimes let it sit overnight. It will look like dark rust when you first take it out but when the air hits it you get that orange that looks great. Oh ya, SUNP0007 (3).JPG you could make a paint shaker like mine too.

since the car show season has been bitten by the Covid I thought I would make my own car show/cruise-in in a town I call Speedville.I'm sure a few of you have seen this dio before on other message boards/forums,it's had a few makeovers since I started it 20 years ago.So here goes......I will post some pics and put the link to my album where you can see more of it,I snapped 60 pics yesterday and I don't want to overload the forum.

  17. Great shaker. I do a similar thing. I use a Ctaftsmen vibrator/orbital sander and rubber band the paint on.
I also use it as a smaller parts cleaner banding a closed container with parts or carb cleaner. Makes aluminum parts looked like the were polished.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.Carl,it's actually been on stand by for at least a year, the album has been deleted a couple times during that span.I was really contemplating on selling the buildings and removing it all together but just can't seem to come to terms with doing that right now but I know someday down the road it's going to happen.Takes a lot of up keeping to keep it dust free

Are the human figures molded soft with wires so you can bend them into the positions? Otherwise where in the heck do you find them with the poses?

figures are not bendable, most of them come painted and in different posing positions and then there are some that you have to paint detail with options of different posing arms and legs. The majority of the people were bought off ebay already painted and posed, the mechanics came from Fujimi kits that you have to paint. Also found some figures at Hobby Lobby but have not seen them for sale again in the last couple years. Here is one example you can find on ebay

You could add little mask on them for the 2020 car show season.

I think everyone who has built this kit always leaves the front clip off because of the ridiculous hinge set up.This is my version
