I believe the lifters are welded to the cam and the pushrods.

As stated , you can see the welds from lifters to cam lobes, pushrods to lifters, pushrods to rockers and rockers to the steel plate engine stand. Pretty cool idea

It would be cool to build one from a blown-up engine. Bent/broken valves, severely damaged piston, bent/broken rod, etc...

That's what happens when you leave an entire engine in a vat of molasses too long! :D

The timing sprocket and chain are welded as is the oil pump drive

  10. This image has been floating around for at minimum 2 yrs, so not a pandemic thing, however it is really cool and I set a few of my blown up Henry J engine pieces out when I first seen the photo to possibly build one.

My guess is the timing chain in front and maybe a small rod from the rear of the cam to the flywheel.

Edit: New guess.....given the close proximity of some cam lobes to the crank throws, maybe he oriented the crank/cam where the rear throw is near enough to a lobe that he could put a tack weld there.

A giant valve would have been a cool stand to hold it up!

It would be neat to see it taken to the next level where the valve springs are compressed when it comes up on the cam.

If you look close, you can see some of the rocker arms look like they are at different heights. Springs don't look compressed though.

He could simply heat the springs red and compress them different amounts till they cool...........

Pretty neat, but it's not going to last long if he runs it that low on oil.

I've seen engines like that at the drags. The difference is the officials had to collect the parts from all over the track.
