Well this is the last one out of a photo album a friend of mine loaned me. Thanks to him and the fellow who took these photos back in the 60's. I know most of these didn't fit the "in motion" criteria of this thread just thought it would be fun to share some of the unseen [I think!]. Great stuff in the back ground of a few of these photos too, Butch Thuney 55 in this one. Have a great weekend all.

I would have been in my early teens back then. My best friend "passed now" worked staging back in that day. Heard many stories from early days.

Interesting. At least two body configurations. One without actual windows, and one with windows.
And the one with windows was also somewhat of a street configured car with trim rings and hb caps at one point.
Don't know if it was actually driven on the street, but it looks the part. Maybe just being funny for photos..!

  20. And two different bodies - initially it was steel and later he changed to a one-piece fiberglass that some people are claiming to be the first flip-top funny car.

    Hello,

For all that missed the video of the original Tennessee Bo-Weevil, here it is, in all its ORIGINAL
BO-WEEVIL SOUND and glory. There are random photos throughout the years, but the sound is an original Bo-Weevil sound from the U.S. Nationals at Detroit in 1959.

My brother and I always thought this Modified Roadster would do well against all of the other Modified Roadsters we saw during the 1958-60 years at Lions Dragstrip and other local So Cal meets. It is a tribute to a hard working guy, who overcame and adjusted to adversity. At the time, we always thought the name was just a classic..."Bo Weevil."
