IMG_5491.JPG This thread had me thinking and looking for the past couple months. Well this popped up on craigslist for $400 and I Drove as fast as I could to get it. Anyone have an idea of who made it. Looks to have been updated to a full roll bar at some point. I think I will pull that off and restore it to its first version.

  13. I found one on craigslist, in Anaheim Hills, just before i left to Oklahoma. It was exactly like the one i had when i was a kid. She only wanted $1000 and i would have bought it, but my granddaughter won't fit in it, so i passed. It was really nice. Might change my mind and go get it, if it's still available when i get back. Who knows...

  14. Mine was just like that #69 in this photo.

  15. My best friend Mike LeNarz, raced all over Southern California, when we were kids. His dad, Dick, or Rich LeNarz worked at Bell Auto Parts. They used to haul their car on the roof of their Hilman Husky. He has so many photos, I'm gonna have to see if he will let me post some on here. We met when he was racing at the track in South Gate, Ca. Think it was called Firestone Raceway. My dad would take me to watch the races.

    Hey C,
Is that little kid in #69 Ed LoZinski, a version of or relative of Ed Losinski from the drag racing fame builders/racers?

Ed Losinski's FED at Lions Dragstrip 1959-60 with Jack Chrisman driving.

They were one of our favorites at Lions during our time there. The build went from carburetors to injection to a 671 supercharger. Jack Chrisman was very busy as he was also driving the famous Sidewinder.

  20. #69 is a Racecraft. They were made in La Verne,Ca. Very popular brand in the late 50's. They sold a lot of them.

I purchased this quarter midget fiberglass body on eBay in 2002. I made the frame and powered it with a modified Lawnboy 2 stroke duraforce lawnmower engine. The body looks similar to a Racecraft, but I am not sure. Midget 1.jpg Midget 2.jpg Midget 3.jpg

Have there been limits placed on top speed since the '60s? It sure seamed like the fire belching AAs were going faster than 45mph back then especially at night.

    From an earlier post,
    NUMBER 20--SPECIAL QUARTER MIDGET---
"However, I do recall one Sunday a friendly Nassau police officer who often watched the events, "practiced" his radar or electric timing device near the parking lot/track. After the majority of the kids left, John went around the perimeter of the huge lot (S Klein--West Hempstead). The officer tagged John at 72 mph. It had long legs for sure. I think John mostly used first and second on the short track."

I've got one. Just a great body and an unidentified professional frame. What I need is advice on where to get PROPER wheels and demensions. Bill

  26. Bill, you need to talk to Doug Schiller. His father built the Offyette 1/4 midgets in the late 50's/60's. Doug restores vintage 1/4 midgets, and is THE authority on them. He lives in Texas now, and his email is [email protected]. Send Doug photos of what you have. I bet he can identify it.

Just now getting caught up on this thread. Your midget appears to have a Willys Jeep 134cu. in engine. Is that correct ? Don't see many of those. As I have a couple of old Willys Jeeps, I would be interested in knowing more about what you have. Thanks

I know this is an old post, but I have been looking for this particular brand of roadster quarter midget for over 25 years! Finally found one … J.O. brand built by Red Caruthers in 1958
