Yes it is sad really , I had the opportunity to buy the Ron Wickham F100 in the early 70's for $1500 & passed it up, but with a new mortgage it wasn't that easy. Here is another pair that have disappeared into thin air sadly.

 

That Customline is another one. I'm not surprised early Holdens didn't survive. Most of them were full of rust and a lot of the repairs weren't done well so they just rotted away.

So some time today and found a lot of new pictures up on the Australian Historic Hot Rod site.
Special mention to Peter Eames who contributed a lot of photos that I have used here. Peter is known in Australia as the Willys King. I have never met him but he fortunately kept a photographic record of the early days in Victoria.

I had forgotten all about creating that thread and it is back to life over a year later.

 

I met a couple of Australians at Viva Las Vegas and they gave me a copy of a ‘68 Hot Rod magazine. It had an Ed Big Daddy Roth ad in it, he was there that year, I asked him to sign it, I’ll treasure it forever

You had some incredible mag wheels, totally unlike anything American.

 

Don’t know how I missed this thread the 1st time around. I have always liked the Aussie slant in hot rods from what limited coverage used to be in R&C etc. Slopers, utes, and the cool model 40 five windows, especially with wicked channels; have always sucked me in. Keep em coming!

 

You mentioned Johnny Philpot whom I met when he was here in the USA. I also met Jim Broadly at the Los Angeles Roadster show in 1978. I had Brian Mander and Gary Sutherland stay at my house in 1978 while they were in the USA. I think that Gary now lives in Washington state here in the USA.
