This (and another one just like it) was in with some other stuff I bought at auction. Anyone know what it is/was? b-t-w; there is NO machining on this and it appears that there never was. Also I didn't sand blast it or in any other way change its appearance.
They are line pins. Bricklayers use them with a length of chalked line or twine to mark out where the course of bricks or blocks will go.
Thanx, man. I googled them and read about them. That's why there were two of them. One of these is slightly longer than the other and in the pix of them I saw the pairs always had one longer than the other, but never saw an explanation of why that is. I've never in my life done any masonry work so it's no wonder I didn't know about them. b-t-w; they appear to be pretty pricey for just a piece of steel about the size of a large nail. The prices I saw ranged from $8 to $22 for a set like these.
