History WHAT DID YOUR ROD OR CUSTOM PROJECT LOOK LIKE WHEN YOU GOT IT

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Aug 3, 2020.

  1. I was looking at some albums of other members today and viewed a lot of cars & trucks in different stages of repair, it was interesting seeing what some of or members started with and the amount of work that went into them.

How about a thread showing what your hot rod or custom looked like when you got it and if it's finished post a photo, if not post a photo of where the project stands at this point.

32 years ago, I traded my '39 Ford convertible for my '32 sedan.

The day I brought it home.

Still have a long way to go...but it is coming together! It's getting long doors (from a 2 door sedan) put on and a hopped up 235. Engine and chassis are done. I need some friends that can do body work!

  11. Well my Oldsmobile looked pretty much the same as it does now. All my work, so far, has been mechanical and not cosmetic.

This is my 50 Chevy Styleline Deluxe. I knew it was sculpted when I bought it, but I was looking for a project. My plans are to turn it into a mild custom you might find in the late 50's - early 60's. I'm going to try to keep it as period correct as I can. I have a 58 283 I'm planning on rebuilding for it and backing it with a 4 speed manual.

The pic with the brick is the filler I sanded off of the driver door and front fender. Like I said I knew it was sculpted. They aligned the panels by covering everything in filler and blocked it out. 50%20Chevy%204.jpeg IMAG0595.jpeg IMAG0901.jpeg Doors%20Open.jpeg

I brought it home in the back of a pick up truck in pieces. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of that. The frame was in a little better shape than the body but not by much. It had originally been built in the early 50's. DSCN1119.JPG DSCN1120.JPG DSCN1124.JPG DSCN1197.JPG
