Hey Hambers. I just found a 1951 8BA out of an F1 for what I consider a very reasonable price. Complete assembled engine with everything back to the trans output shaft with lots of extra parts. I have no use for the 4 spd creeper trans. Been a few years since I played with a Flatty. My question is will the 8BA bolt to my stock 47 trans ? Thanks in advance.
Using the F-1 bellhousing, yes. It should also have the correct water pumps, and oil pan, for the swap. The side trim on your coupe looks like 1946.
you will need the belhousing and it will fit the stock trans. When I got my 47 it had a 8BA in it. BUT if you are putting it in place of that SBC, you'll need motor mounts, radiator, exhaust, etc, etc to finish it. All that will be about the price of a SBC rebuild
are you restoring or hotrodding? that sbc makes twice the horsepower of a flathead just falling off a work bench
Does it have the inboard rectangle park lights, or the round ones below the headlights ? Whatever, it's a great looking Ford !
just found a stock 47 flatty mated to a 37 box with updated syncros, running and will demo for twice the price of the 8ba. $1500 ! Only problem is it's an 8 hr drive, one way. Decisions, decisions.
