I have a built 53 8BA that is .010 over with a .3 added stroke. Assume CR to be 9:1.
    Dual Holly 94.

The 4” filters on this seem inadequate, runs much better with them off. Plugs were black when I got it.

stack two of these up or is there a better solution? I’Ve had lawnmowers With bigger filters. All city driving, not a dIly driver. Screens?

Stack 'em! That's what I did with the 2GC on the '51 Merc in my car. Over two years running with no fouled plugs or black smoke. It works very well, but you have to remember, the hood is closed most of the time.

Its been a while but someone here posted about some really sharp looking air filters. I believe it was Bubba but don't quote me. Maybe someone with a better memory than me will chime in.

My neighbor with the flow bench suggests a large filter

@51504bat Those are amazing but they do not have filters in them.

    As stated in his post;
"I have had a few people ask about elements for these. They come with a mesh screen but if you want a regular style filter a NAPA gold #2719 fits."

Correct which would have the same issues flowing as the OPs filters

What are the issues? To small?
Are they high enough to stack 2 filters inside and not be ugly?

Maybe the tall Edmunds air filters would work

You can make a simple element with 2 layers of metal window screen & sandwich some bronze wool in between. My original from 1960 is made that way & flows WAY BETTER than any paper. Lightly oil & clean once in a while. With a single 94 you can feel the car bog with any of the paper filters.

I use a k&n style filter for dual Weber’s on a Porsche on my Stromberg 97’s with 047 jets(stock is 045) homemade top and bottom; works gr8. Flathead Forever.Runs 80 in 1/8 mile.Notice the size of the filtered area!

I'm just running scoops with bug screens, I live in town and don't drive on dusty roads so don't think it will really shorten the engine life. Just got it together enough to drive but still a work in progress. IMG_0495.jpg running.jpg

Might not be period correct, but very cool in any case.
    Nice work.

Not to change the subject but I couldn't overlook your distributor setup. What is that, I've not seen that type before.

I think I stole this from the HAMB many years ago (damn hoodlums :)). Credit to Ron for a good article.

Had those same little filters on my frog mouth scoops on my 409. Totally choked out the motor to the point the motor wouldn’t basically run. That’s why I built my oil bath look air cleaner so I could run full filters large enough for the motor.
