If this thread were to be made into a hardback version, it would be on a lot of coffee tables. Thank you for the journey...

  6. Thanks to YOU and everyone else who has been a part of it!

It’s funny you should mention a book as I have seriously considered putting something together along those lines. I don’t know if I have the smarts to pull it off but I have some design-savy people around me that would probably be willing to help with layout, etc.....

Back in 2010 our family took a 2.5 week driving trip with the kids, and made a book from this site. Its one of one, just for our family. Cell phone photos look professionaly shot, at your words; captions for each photo. I will post some pics when I dig it out.

  8. Wow! Thanks for the link @big duece. I should have guessed someone already had figured this out!

  10. It would be really cool to create a scrapbook that documents the history of the car, as well as your ownership. Make sure you take high quality scans of the photos you got from Lanny. If you really wanted to go all in, it would be cool to add his comments or captions beneath the old photos to document his memories and thoughts. Of course, adding your comments and captions to your photos. The book could stay with the car for future generations.

It's great to see these cars get taken by the correct hands. It could have just as easily ended up some 'rat rod" for some dip shit somewhere.

  12. This summer is flying by with lots of projects happening at home. I decided to run a few errands in the roadster today since it was slightly cooler than it has been outside. Here’s the proof!

Those fenders probably help with the gravel!

  15. That's Wigwam Village (or The World Famous 50 Foot TeePee) in Lawrence Kansas. I believe this building and the 50' Teepee is all that's left.

A tube or can of touchup paint and a small brush or toothpick works wonders.

  18. Thanks! Yes those two are all that remains. Here is my Merc in front of the big one. I wanted the roadster in front of it but someone lives there and I haven’t happened by when they weren’t home (or at least the late model wasn’t parked in front.)

I guess you must be in the camp that think folks who run a generator or an ammeter must have a wish to die of immolation, eh?

Generators work as well as an alternator if the whole system is maintained and adjusted properly.

@cactus1 knows how to do that, trust me.

  22. Thanks for the vote of confidence Bob. Lanny actually took all the danger and guesswork out of it when he installed a mopar alternator in 1961! ;)

    Ha!

    Thanks Brent!

Exactly. If the original owner put it that way when he built it in 61 then I’d sure as shit leave it put. Otherwise what’s the point of keeping it as a survivor.
