After 7+ years of varying changes our ‘36 has reached its final form. 3 years ago my dad and I decided to make a major change to our coupe. For sure, we had put together a sweet running 8ba powered coupe that would have gone on for years of dependable fun. But at that point we came to the conclusion that we had to have air conditioning. Living in South Florida presents a challenge for rodders driving closed cars without a/c. You have to either live with the heat, drive mainly in the 72 degree winter months or say screw it “I’m going to air”. After working through all the aspects of adding air to our specific car we came to the realization that for us, a complete upgrade was best. This would include the drivetrain, suspension, electrical, electronics, interior, etc.,etc. So for the past 3years we gutted and refitted everything anew, only the body was left untouched. We pulled the 8ba, ‘39 box and banjo rear and replaced it with a 350 crate, 5 speed Tremec and a John’s Industries 9”. All of the brackets we needed for modifying the suspension, steering and frame came from Dale at Weedetr Street Rods “weedburner 40” here on the Hamb. We can’t say enough about the fitment of his brackets for our modifying the tranny/frame/split bones/steering/parallel leafs, etc. Lots of long hours and work doing these changes but without his stuff we’d have had a hell of a time. Other main suppliers were Vintage Air and American Auto Wire. We’re also extremely lucky to have Fusco’s Upholstery here in Pompano. They are one of the finest upholstery shops and have an impeccable reputation. All of the work except for the upholstery was done by us with a never ending stream of four letter words and Anheuser-Busch products. out comes the flatty
Beautiful car. Great job guys. You should probably donate that flathead to my foundation.... The human fund. Money for people....
That 36 is absolutely gorgeous... How did you adapt the 36 caps to the new wheels if you don’t mind telling??? Thanks, Mitch.
Super nice car. Love the interior and the way the evaporator fits behind the dash. The A/C will give you a lot more cruising time.
All 4 wheels are original wide fives. I had to use an adapter for the rear bolt pattern to wide five whee
Aaahhh I see, that explains that..You have a REALLY nice coupe there. Makes me miss my sedan. Thanks, Mitch.
